Salary range: Grade 12 £50,085- £52,194 p.a. plus fantastic benefits
Contract: Permanent
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Croydon

Due to service restructure and expansion, Croydon Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Practitioner EHCP Coordinators to join ourSEND Teams. This is a key leadership role where you will help shape and deliver high-quality services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the role

As Senior Practitioner, you will play a central role in leading the coordination and delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

You will:

Lead and support a team of 16 EHCP Coordinators, with direct line management for x6 coordinators, providing supervision, guidance and performance management

Oversee statutory EHC needs assessments and plan maintenance, ensuring compliance within required timelines

Ensure high-quality, child-centred and outcomes-focused EHCPs are produced

Support robust and timely decision-making at SEND panels, including placement and resource allocation

Act as a key point of contact for parents, carers and young people, ensuring a positive and transparent experience

Champion collaborative working across education, health and social care partners

Lead quality assurance, peer review and continuous practice development

Represent the Local Authority at meetings, mediation and support tribunals

You will also support the Team Manager and deputise where required, contributing to the ongoing development of Croydon’s SEND services.

About you

We are looking for a confident and experienced professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

You will have:

A degree-level qualification (or equivalent)

Strong working knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children & Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice

Experience working within a local authority, education, or public/third sector setting

Proven ability to lead, support and develop staff

Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills

Experience managing complex casework, data, and statutory processes

The ability to build trusted relationships with parents, schools and professionals

Confidence handling challenging conversations and complex decision-making

A commitment to high-quality public service, inclusion, and continuous improvement is essential.
