About the Role

We are looking for an organised, adaptable, and customer-focused Apprentice Business Support Administrator to provide high-quality administrative support across our service areas within Children’s Services. This is a varied and fast-paced role supporting senior officers and teams, where flexibility, initiative and professionalism are key.

You will be responsible for delivering efficient administrative services, responding to a high volume of tasks, and ensuring work is completed accurately and to agreed standards. The role requires confidence in dealing with internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers, Members, partner agencies, and the public.

A structured programme of learning will enable you to achieve a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship which is a nationally recognized qualification and accredited by Skills England.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to teams and departments within Children’s Services
  • Function as a first point of contact for service users, members of the public, Members, and visitors.
  • Manage calendars, arrange meetings, book venues, and prepare papers.
  • Organise and support meetings, seminars, and events, including minute-taking.
  • Maintain accurate records using databases, spreadsheets, and IT systems.
  • Support financial and budget monitoring processes, including orders and payments.
  • Assist with FOIs, SARs, complaints, Members,’ and MP enquiries, ensuring appropriate escalation.
  • Produce correspondence, reports and management information as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive or politically sensitive information appropriately.
  • Provide cover for colleagues and contribute positively to teamwork.

What We Are Looking For

You will be:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
  • Administrative experience with attention to detail
  • Confident use of IT systems, including Microsoft Office
  • Well-organised, able to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • An effective communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Professional, courteous, and customer-focused
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, using initiative where appropriate.
  • Trusted to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Salary range

  • £27,781 per year
