Our Values

In line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equity and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our Values are:

  • Open and fair: We are fair, open, and transparent.
  • Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
  • Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
  • Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
  • Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
  • Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.

We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.

The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools.

Inspired Pathways provides education for pupils from age 4-16 years, some of whom are taught on the Children’s Ward within the local large general hospital; others aged 11-16 years are taught at Whitmore Park Annexe or on home tuition.

What is the job role?

This is an exciting and dynamic role for an experienced Science Teacher to join our wonderful team of teachers at InspirED Pathways. All of our children have experienced barriers to learning through illness or injury. You will join our dedicated team of teachers and support staff in reconnecting children with all that is wonderful about learning. Main duties will include:

  • To deliver the Science KS3 and KS4 curriculum to given groups or individual children within the Service
  • To ensure the appropriate GCSE and/or other accredited courses are selected and delivered to meet the individual learning needs of all pupils
  • To maximise the use of data to ensure appropriate assessment, target setting, tracking and reporting measures are in place
  • To apply the principles of ‘Quality First’ and ‘Adaptive’ teaching in the classroom and ensure that pupils’ social and emotional, as well as academic, needs are met
  • To support the service’s personal development priorities by fulfilling the role of a ‘Lead Tutor’
  • To take responsibility for putting in place interventions to ensure pupils make expected or better progress from initial baseline assessment and/or FFT predictions
  • To ensure that appropriate resources and equipment are in place which are kept and maintained to expected standards
  • To ensure that Safeguarding procedures are observed and adhered to
  • To work effectively as a team member on whole-service initiatives and developments
  • To engage in appropriate CPD to ensure knowledge and understanding of local and national developments and initiatives are kept up to date within Science teaching and in education in general
  • To support and arrange opportunities for enrichment and engagement through visits, trips and events
  • Any other duties and responsibilities within the range of the salary grade.

For the successful candidate, there is a TLR (2a) available with this role for the leadership and management of a small team.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Science Teacher to join our team. You will be responsible for the planning, implementation and delivery of a broad, balanced, relevant and vibrant learning programme to support the teaching of Science across the three arms of InspirED Pathways: Whitmore Park Annexe; Wards 14-16 at UHCW and Home Tuition as required. You will actively contribute to and ensure the development and implementation of appropriate assessment, reporting and recording procedures and work as part of the team to ensure that students are supported in addressing their educational and pastoral issues, liaising with other colleagues and agencies as appropriate.

Prospective applicants are invited to contact us if they wish to arrange an informal visit and chat. Please call the office on 02476 337734 or email inspired@coventry.gov.uk to arrange a convenient time.
