Salary: £35,451 - £39,165 per annum (pro rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Are you a passionate SEND professional committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred statutory services? Do you have the skills and motivation to manage EHCP casework, work collaboratively with families and partners, and contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people?

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated and organised SENA Case Manager to join our Special Educational Needs Assessment Service. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a busy statutory service, supporting children, young people and families across Leicestershire through the SEND assessment, planning and review process.

About the Role

As a SENA Case Manager, you will manage a caseload of children and young people, ensuring high-quality statutory assessment, planning and review activity in line with SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and local policies.

You will work closely with families, schools and partner agencies, acting as a central point of coordination to ensure that education, health and care needs are effectively assessed and provision is appropriately identified and secured.

Working within a supportive team environment, you will play an important role in ensuring that statutory timescales are met, plans are person-centred and outcomes-focused, and that children and young people remain at the heart of all decision making.

This key role involves:

  • Managing a caseload of children and young people with SEND, ensuring timely delivery of statutory assessment, planning and review processes
  • Coordinating Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and drafting high-quality, outcome-focused Education, Health and Care Plans
  • Analysing and interpreting advice from education, health and care professionals, alongside the views of children, young people and families
  • Working collaboratively with parents/carers, schools, colleges and partner agencies to support effective communication and co-production
  • Attending and contributing to Annual Reviews, ensuring recommendations are appropriately considered and progressed
  • Supporting the consultation process with education providers and contributing to placement decisions in line with identified needs and local authority processes
  • Preparing casework documentation for SEND Panels, including funding requests, amendments and placement considerations
  • Contributing to mediation and SEND Tribunal processes, including preparing documentation
  • Maintaining accurate records and using IT systems effectively to support case management and statutory Compliance
  • Supporting safeguarding responsibilities by working in partnership with relevant agencies to promote the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Working flexibly within a team to manage competing priorities and contribute to a high-quality, responsive service

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria

To be successful in this role, you will bring

  • Experience of working within SEND, education, social care or a related field with NVQ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent in a relevant subject;
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and local authority statutory responsibilities;
  • Experience of managing or contributing to casework involving children, young people and families;
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective professional relationships and engage sensitively with families;
  • The ability to analyse and interpret information to support clear and consistent decision making;
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and meet statutory deadlines;
  • Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate, high-quality records.
