Job Introduction

We’re recruiting a part‑time (18 hours per week) Children’s Services Support Assistant to join our dedicated Business Support team within Children’s Services. In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll help deliver an efficient, customer‑focused administrative service—supporting colleagues by managing communications, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring key processes run smoothly.

Working closely with internal teams and partners, you’ll play an important role in keeping information flowing, supporting day‑to‑day operations, and helping us provide a high‑quality service to the children, young people and families we work with.

At Milton Keynes City Council, we work as one council and are committed to creating safer, healthier communities. If you’re organised, adaptable and enjoy working as part of a supportive team in a busy environment, this is a great opportunity to build your administrative career in a role that makes a real difference.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

09:00 - 15:00 - 6 working hours per day

Interviews for this role will be held on 12th August 2026

At Milton Keynes City Council, we aim to make a difference every day. We’re dedicated, respectful and collaborative. We act as one council, and we work hard to create cleaner, safer and healthier communities while tackling inequalities and supporting people to thrive.

  • Complete checks and references for prospective carers and record actions accurately on our systems.
  • Help retrieve and manage Children’s Services files and follow our information governance procedures.
  • Process purchase orders and invoices using our finance systems and help keep office supplies stocked.
  • Support Traded Services, help with tasks such as job adverts and provide reception cover when needed.
Ideal Candidate
  • Has a level two qualification in Business Administration or equivalent experience, including fast and accurate word processing skills.
  • Can use Microsoft Office confidently and input data accurately.
  • Communicates clearly with different audiences, both verbally and in writing.
