Job summary

As a Deputy Workplace Manager (dWPM) you will be working in a professional workplace assurance job operating with independent judgement and minimal guidance within a defined scope. You will be working alongside the Workplace Manager (WPM) supporting them ensuring the day-to-day assurance is implemented in assigned workplaces.

Please note a workplace may be an office, laboratory, workshop, storage area, building, iso-container, range (or part of a range), magazine or facility deemed appropriate.

Job description

As dWPM you will be responsible for the day-to-day assurance, improvement and professional oversight of health, safety, environmental and security arrangements with assigned workplaces.

You will take personal responsibility for applying policy, interpreting guidance, advising users and anticipating issues. You will escalate complex novel or high-risk matters to the WPM when required.

You will contribute to the continuous improvement of workplace standards, support the safe delivery of activities and promote consistent, compliant and high-quality ways of working.

Person specification

We are looking for individuals who have experience of managing health, safety and environment aspects within a designated work area (e.g retail environments, office, laboratory, workshop).

You will have an understanding of risk assessment and risk management as well as having the ability to identify critical assets and determine required planned preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

Essential:
•Evidence of good standard of general education (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent including English and Mathematics at Grade C or above).
•Hold or willing to undertake IOSH Managing Safely.
•Ability and willingness to complete the Dstl Learning Journey for Deputy Workplace Manager
