Teacher – SEND Specialist Provision (ASC / Speech, Language and Communication)

Start date: September 2026

MPS + SEN Allowance

Wistaston Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join our specialist SEND provision for pupils with Speech, Language and Communication needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This is an exciting opportunity to work within an outstanding school (Ofsted 2024), as part of a well-established and highly regarded provision within a mainstream setting.

The successful candidate will work within our 32-place specialist provision, supporting pupils across all primary phases. Classes are small (typically around 8 pupils) and are well supported by experienced teaching assistants, enabling high-quality, personalised teaching and care.

This role requires a teacher who is committed to creating a caring, nurturing and structured environment, where every child can thrive both academically and emotionally. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.

We are looking to recruit an ambitious, proactive and highly motivated teacher who:

  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team
  • Has a strong commitment to inclusion and meeting the needs of every child
  • Is well organised, flexible and adaptable
  • Has high expectations of attainment, achievement and behaviour
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is a reflective practitioner with a desire to continually develop their practice
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

Experience of working with children with ASC and/or speech, language and communication needs is desirable.

Application forms can be obtained from the school office or downloaded from the school website, completed and returned to school by:

Closing Date: 9:00am Tuesday 1st September 2026

Wistaston Academy application forms must be used for the application and these are to be returned by post to Wistaston Academy, Moreton Road, Crewe, Cheshire CW2 8QS or to the e-mail - admin@wistastonacademytrust.co.uk.

School telephone number is 01270 910500.

For further information about our school, please go to the school website.

All applicants will undergo enhanced DBS checks. All members of staff will be expected to uphold the highest standards of pupil safeguarding and confidentiality.

Wistaston Academy has a duty of care to the children in our charge and we must do everything we can to provide a safe and caring environment whilst they are at School.

'All those who come into contact with children and families in their everyday work, including practitioners who do not have a specific role in relation to child protection, have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.’ DfE
