Transport
£36,363 - £39,151 per year

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how traffic, parking and traffic movement are managed across Portsmouth. Working closely with colleagues, stakeholders and residents, you will provide a customer-focused service, build effective partnerships and contribute to the delivery of transport and parking initiatives that make a positive difference to the city.

    Your new role

You will play a key role in helping to manage parking, traffic movement and road safety across Portsmouth. Working within the Transport Delivery team, you will provide specialist technical advice on Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and Speed Limit Orders (SLOs), ensuring schemes are developed and delivered in line with legal requirements and Council priorities. You will also support the delivery of residents' parking schemes and help develop practical solutions to complex transport and parking challenges across the city.

The role offers a varied mix of technical, project and stakeholder-focused work, including:

    • Developing and processing TROs and SLOs.
    • Delivering consultation programmes for residents' parking schemes.
    • Preparing briefing notes and reports for committees, boards and external meetings.
    • Providing expert advice on transport planning, parking and traffic management matters.
    • Working with colleagues, stakeholders and industry partners to develop effective parking and transport solutions for Portsmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with problem-solving and collaborative working to help shape the future of transport and parking services in Portsmouth.

    Who is the person summary:

We are looking for a proactive and motivated transport professional with experience of Traffic Regulation Orders and the associated legislation. You will be confident in working independently, managing competing priorities and making sound decisions on complex issues, while providing practical and innovative solutions. A relevant degree, or equivalent professional experience, is essential, along with strong IT skills and a good understanding of financial and budget management.

    You will be:

    • An excellent communicator with the ability to build effective relationships and have a positive influence on stakeholders and colleagues.
    • A confident representative at internal and external meetings.
    • A collaborative team player who develops positive partnerships.
    • Creative, solutions-focused and able to think outside the box when tackling challenges.

You will be someone who combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills and is passionate about delivering practical transport and parking solutions that benefit residents and communities across Portsmouth.
