We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Team Leader to manage and inspire our team of planning officers. You will lead the delivery of large-scale strategic development projects that shape the long-term vision of East Herts. This is a unique opportunity to influence key developments and ensure they align with our council’s goals for sustainable growth and community wellbeing.

What you will be doing

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of planning officers focused on strategic development projects.
  • Oversee the assessment and progression of large-scale planning applications and policy development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, developers, and the community to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on strategic planning matters.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and elected members.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team and planning processes.

About you

  • Proven experience in managing teams within a planning or development context, preferably in local government.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning, policy frameworks, and large-scale development projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Passion for sustainable development and community-focused planning.
