    Wings School Notts, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school near Newark in Nottinghamshire, for children and young people aged between the ages of 9 and 17. We provide a safe learning environment for children and young people with a wide range of varying needs including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), autism (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attachment difficulties (AD).

    Key Responsibilities

    Supporting and Delivering Learning

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge children and young people.
    • Foster a positive learning environment that supports children and young people's educational and personal growth.
    • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to ensure student success.
    • Participate in school activities, extracurricular programs, and professional development opportunities.

    Pupil Welfare and safeguarding

    • Promote exemplary standards of behaviour, in line with school policies and procedures.
    • Understanding the school’s safeguarding procedures and actively promoting pupils’ wellbeing and safety.
    • Working with the DSL and their deputies to ensure safeguarding is at the core of your practise.
    • Contribute to risk assessments for pupils, locations and activities as appropriate.
    • Under instruction or supervision, manage systems, procedures and policy to secure positive welfare, personal development, behaviour, and engagement of the pupil cohort
    • Delivery of pre-determined behaviour, care or welfare support programmes
    • Provide mentoring or counselling to pupils
    • Keep appropriate records regarding behaviour, engagement, welfare and safeguarding

    About You

    Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated educator looking to make a real impact on young minds? We are seeking a motivated and inspiring Science Teacher to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our children and young people.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • A qualification in SEND education is desirable.
    • Experience of working with children with SEND and ASC is ideal but applications from those working in mainstream settings are very welcome.
    • A strong understanding of the social, emotional and behavioural needs of vulnerable learners.
    • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students who may be anxious, disengaged or distressed.
    • Experience in teaching Science as a specialism
    • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate children and young people.
    • Excellent communication and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • A commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching methods.
    • A calm, patient and trauma-informed approach, with effective de-escalation skills.
    • A good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an education setting.
    • Resilience, flexibility and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
