The Opportunity:
As a Property Officer with BTP, you will play a key role in managing property and exhibits at Edinburgh Police Station, ensuring the safe, secure, and accurate handling of items linked to investigations. From evidential property to found items and large sums of cash, your work will directly support operational policing and the criminal justice process. You will also provide a professional front counter service, assisting members of the public and supporting officers with property-related processes, helping to deliver an efficient and effective service.
What you'll be doing:
- Receiving, recording, storing and tracking property and exhibits, ensuring continuity of evidence and accurate record-keeping
- Managing the return, retention and disposal of property, including liaison with officers, courts and external agencies
- Supporting court processes through the preparation and release of exhibits as required
- Providing guidance to officers and delivering a professional front counter service, assisting with enquiries and administrative support
What you'll bring to the team:
- Experience of dealing with members of the public and providing a customer-focused service
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage sensitive information
- Good IT skills, including experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
