We are looking for an enthusiastic and well motivated Senior Building Control Surveyor/Registered Building Inspector to join the Council’s Building Control Team.

Tonbridge & Malling comprises of a mix of residential and commercial developments within an area of some 93 square miles with a population of approximately 134,000.
About You
We are seeking a well motivated and enthusiastic Building Control Surveyor / Registered Building Inspector with substantial post qualifying experience of working in Building Controlto manage an area within the Borough and assist the team as a whole to maintain its current outstandingly high level of service. We will consider and support any applicants who are progressing through the BSR registration process. Duties are to include, carrying out plan assessments for compliance with the Building Regulations, undertaking consultation with statutory bodies, issuing of decisions within statutory timescales, undertaking site inspections, completing suitable site inspection notes, assessing demolitions and dangerous structures as well as providing periodic out of hours cover on a rota basis.
Applicants should have good communication skills as well as a high level of literacy and numeracy together with appropriate IT skills. There is also a requirement for applicants to be committed to delivering a quality customer focused service in what is competitive environment. It is important that applicants have the ability to make clear and accurate decisions at short notice and under pressure.
Applicants will be Registered to Class 2A as a minimum and ideally be a member of the CABE, RICS or CIOB. A current full UK driving licence and daily access to a car for business purposes are required, for which expenses and a car allowance will be paid.

Salary range
- £51,666 - £54,609 per year
