About the role

As a Local Area Coordinator working in New Addington, you’ll be based in the local area working with local people, families and the community. You will become a familiar presence and a trusted point of contact for local people.

You will use a person centred and strengths-based approach to help people improve their health and wellbeing, build resilience, strengthen natural networks and navigate complex systems. You’ll play a vital role in helping communities grow stronger, more inclusive and more connected.

This is a rewarding, highly relationship-focused role where no two days are the same.

There will be occasional work outside of normal office hours, during evenings and weekends.

While driving is not essential, you will spend approximately 80% of your working week out in the community. To be considered for this role, you must be able to work within New Addington and travel around the local area. This may involve significant periods of walking, standing, and moving between locations. Candidates who hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car are preferred.

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with people and has:
Excellent local knowledge of Croydon and the New Addington area and people specifically.
Proven experience supporting marginalised individual people and families from diverse backgrounds in a similar role.
Strong listening and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to working with people.
Knowledge and skills in strengths-based, person-centred, and holistic approaches, with the ability to help people shape and pursue their own goals.
Excellent relationship-building skills.
Creative and independent problem-solving ability.
A solid understanding and experience of safeguarding practice and processes. The ability to carry out dynamic risk assessment and to act autonomously whilst complying with procedures and practices.
Good knowledge of the health and social care system, and other statutory and/or voluntary services.
Cultural and inclusive competence.

Additional Information on the Interview Process

There will be a two-part interview process for this role:

Stage 1: A community-based task where you will meet with local people and be assessed on your ability to engage with them. This will take place in New Addington - date to be notified - you will need to available for that date if you are shortlisted for interviews.

Stage 2: Candidates who are successful at stage one will be invited to attend a formal interview.

Salary range

£40,182 - £42,060 per year
