<h4>Job summary</h4><p><strong>The Independent Football Regulator</strong></p><p>The Independent Football Regulator (IFR) has been established to protect and promote the sustainability of English football, for the benefit of fans and the local communities football clubs serve. </p><p>The IFR will help improve financial sustainability of clubs, ensure resilience across the leagues, and safeguard the heritage of English football. It will operate a licensing regime; set corporate governance standards and monitor, protect, and promote financial resilience. It will also enforce compliance with requirements on financial regulation, club ownership and directors, fan engagement, and heritage protection.</p><p>The IFR will also have powers to prohibit clubs from joining competitions that are not fair or meritocratic, or that threaten the heritage or sustainability of English football.</p><h4>Job description</h4><p>The role of Intelligence is to focus resources in the most effective way. The job holder will undertake a full range of work with the offender whilst resident at the Approved Premises. SO21 3BP. </p><p>The post-holder will work under the direction of Beat Foresters and Beat Work Supervisors on the following on Beats;</p><p><strong>Micheldever Beat: </strong></p><p>Comprises of mixed woodland from North and East Hampshire from the Thames Basin Heaths SPA and SSSI in the north through to the Hampshire downs which encompasses significant area of PAWS (Plantation on Ancient Woodland) restoration. Much of these woodlands have significant recreational, heritage and conservation value. </p><p><strong>Solent Beat: </strong></p><p>Mixed woodland blocks spread across south central Hampshire and including the Isle of Wight. Forest management includes PAWS restoration, diversifying species and age structure and moving to continuous cover forestry, as well as responding to current tree pests and diseases e.g. Ash dieback. The beat area includes several Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It includes several Leasehold woods where public access is limited as well as locally popular woods with members of the public.</p><p>The job-holder will work in a team alongside another Forest Craftsperson and a Tractor driver. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>This is a Fixed-Term Appointment (FTA) due to the time-limited nature of the role within DARR programme. The current Met Office Data Assimilation (DA) system is not expected to be efficient across the range of possible alternative HPC solutions likely to be available on the 2025 timescale. The new software is being developed within the Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI) framework from the Joint Centre for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA).</p><p>The Met Office provides an opportunity for talented scientists to apply their skills to real-world problems, with impacts upon services that reach all our lives. Within the organisation, you will work in the team working on the Assimilation of Earth observations, part of the Satellite and Surface Assimilation (SSA) section of Weather Science. Data assimilation is the process of combining observational data with output from a numerical model to produce a statistically optimal estimate of the initial conditions for weather prediction. The Met Office is at the forefront of DA applications in operational Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and it is an exciting time to be working in this area. Perhaps the greatest challenge for modern DA is the need to consider how these complex DA algorithms will be run efficiently on the potentially radically different supercomputer architectures needed to maintain progress over the next decade.</p><p>As part of our approach to growing expertise in DA and JEDI, the successful applicants will also have exciting secondment opportunities to spend time working in Boulder, Colorado, at the JCSDA.</p><p>We are seeking talented and creative individuals to join our surface-based and upper-air observation team to contribute to the research and development on the assimilation of a wide range of weather observations (e.g. surface automated weather stations, upper-air instruments like radiosondes, and surface-based remotely sensed data such as weather radar) for initialising operational weather forecast models on the next generation of supercomputers. The current Met Office Data Assimilation (DA) system is not expected to be efficient across the range of possible alternative HPC solutions likely to be available on the 2025 timescale. The new software is being developed within the Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI) framework from the Joint Centre for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA).</p><p>The Met Office provides an opportunity for talented scientists to apply their skills to real-world problems, with impacts upon services that reach all our lives. Within the organisation, you will work in the team working on the Assimilation of Earth observations, part of the Satellite and Surface Assimilation (SSA) section of Weather Science. Data assimilation is the process of combining observational data with output from a numerical model to produce a statistically optimal estimate of the initial conditions for weather prediction. The Met Office is at the forefront of DA applications in operational Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and it is an exciting time to be working in this area.
