Mobile Team Leader – Estate Services

We are looking for a Mobile Team Leader to join our Estate Services Team within the Housing & Regeneration Directorate.

The role is responsible for leading a team of Mobile Team Operatives and ensuring the efficient delivery of bulk waste removal, caretaking support and related estate services across the borough.

If you are comfortable working on site, have experience supervising operational teams and enjoy coordinating people, vehicles and resources to deliver services, we would like to hear from you.

This is a hands-on leadership role covering multiple locations, suited to someone organised, proactive and able to support their team while maintaining high service standards.

    In this role, you will:

    • Lead and support a team of Mobile Team Operatives, ensuring work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
    • Plan and coordinate daily operations, allocating work and responding to changing priorities, emergencies and service demands.
    • Carry out site visits and inspections to monitor service delivery, identify issues and take appropriate action.
    • Manage day-to-day team matters, including performance, attendance, development and staff wellbeing.
    • Investigate operational issues and respond to service requests and complaints, helping to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
    • Ensure vehicles, equipment and resources are used safely, maintained properly and available to support service delivery.
    • Support operational delivery where required, including assisting with bulk waste removal and other estate services activities.

    About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

    • Experience of supervising and coordinating an operational team or service.
    • Experience of planning workloads and responding to changing service demands and priorities.
    • Knowledge of health and safety requirements, risk assessments and safe working practices.
    • Experience of managing performance, attendance or staff development.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with residents, colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Experience of using computers and systems to support service delivery and record keeping.
    • A reliable and positive approach with the ability to lead by example and support a high-performing team.
    • A full UK driving licence, with the ability to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

A basic DBS check is required for this role.

    Our Benefits

    We offer:

    • A competitive salary
    • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
    • 29 days annual leave, rising to 33 days with 5 years' service, plus bank holidays and additional days over the Christmas period, subject to service requirements
    • Working arrangements that reflect operational requirements
    • Access to staff benefits and money-saving schemes, including season ticket loans
    • Ongoing learning and development opportunities through our Learning Academy with the chance to progress.

This role offers an opportunity to lead a visible frontline service that makes a real difference to residents by helping to keep estates clean, safe and well maintained.
