The successful applicants will be part of the Sefton Catering team at one of our sites. Mobile General assistants have a base and will be expected to work in and around the borough when required.
The successful applicants will undertake with supervision the preparation, simple cooking, and service of food.
You will be required to attend a half day course to achieve a level 2 award in food safety.
(This course is being undertaken online at present)

The Role As the Catering Manager, you will manage and control all catering services according to school specifications. You will lead and motivate a team of catering staff to deliver high-quality, pupil-focused meals while maintaining strict budgetary and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities include: ● Culinary Excellence: Ensuring prompt preparation of all meals, breaks, and hospitality requirements using high standard "scratch cooking". ● Menu Innovation: Planning balanced, multi-choice menus that meet nutritional standards and cater to diverse dietary and cultural needs. ● Team Leadership: Managing, recruiting, and training the catering team, including conducting performance management and organising staff cover. ● Operational Control: Managing raw materials, portion control, and all administrative returns (weekly and monthly) accurately and on time. ● Service Growth: Organising theme days and promotions to actively encourage pupils to use the service and grow catering sales. ● Safety &amp; Standards: Maintaining legal and school standards for health, safety, and hygiene, including the daily use of "Safer Food Better Business" (SFBB).

We are seeking to appoint a talented School Cook
Salary: £23,181.00 - £27,630.00 (pt 15 – 18)
Contract Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week (7am to 2.30pm Mon- Fri), 44.6-week contract
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated School Cook for the day to day running of the school's catering department. Providing high quality, freshly prepared meals and excellent service. Whilst this is a hands-on role, you will also need to demonstrate a sound understanding of food safety, compliance and health and safety. You will support the team in upholding our high EHO standards and safe working practices.
As all food is freshly prepared, using high-quality ingredients from local suppliers, you will need to be competent in all areas of the kitchen. You will need to be confident in all areas of preparation from preparing the daily main courses, sandwiches and salads, to baking cakes and pies.
This role also includes responsibilities for opening the school premises each morning including initial routine security monitoring and reporting as needed.
