As a Content Designer, you will play a key role in transforming and improving content across Ofgem.gov.uk. Working within our Digital Communications team, you will collaborate with colleagues across communications, policy and stakeholder teams to create user-centred content that supports both organisational objectives and audience needs.
You'll be responsible for developing, editing and publishing high-quality digital content, supporting communications campaigns from concept through to delivery. Using data, research and user insight, you'll continually review and improve customer journeys, identify content improvements and ensure content meets accessibility and publishing standards.
We're looking for a skilled content professional with proven experience of creating accessible, user-focused online content. You will be confident interpreting complex information and translating it into clear, engaging messaging that supports users in achieving their goals. Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to influence stakeholders through evidence-based decision making are essential.
You'll also act as an advocate for content design best practice, helping colleagues understand and apply user-centred approaches across the organisation.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, write, edit and publish content that meets Ofgem needs as well as those of our users to strict deadlines using content management systems.
- Support the timely delivery of communications campaigns, managing digital output from ideation to launch.
- Make sure that Ofgem.gov.uk content is user-centred, aligns to business objectives and consistently meets publishing standards.
- Use analytical skills and work with colleagues to develop and use insight, interpreting research to better understand user needs and improve content based on data and user feedback.
- Evaluate customer journeys and make sure they are the best they can be – identifying content gaps and overlaps.
- Provide content expertise and advice to Ofgem colleagues.
- Increase digital understanding across the organisation by acting as an advocate for the benefits of user centred content design by default, running training and presenting to colleagues.

- Develop and deliver communications campaigns content
- Support the delivery of content transformation on ofgem.gov.uk using content design principles.
- Work with Head of Digital to deliver the Ofgem web content strategy.
- Build relationships across Ofgem to focus on the needs of the user and influence stakeholders.
- Collaborate and problem-solve with colleagues, especially in strategic communications, stakeholder management, events, and policy to deliver tangible improvements to ofgem.gov.uk.
- Contribute to and use style guides and content patterns.

- Experience of delivering content that adheres to a content strategy in support of organisation business goals and user needs
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work calmly even when faced with fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
- Strong analytical skills, converting data to insight with the ability to report in various formats.
- Ability to challenge constructively, using data to support your position, whilst being able to compromise where appropriate to create effective content which meets the interests of both internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of working in government communications, or on GOV.UK, adhering to Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles.
- Understanding of Agile methodology.
