Pride in Place Project Officer - Apprentice

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen within the Events Team at South Derbyshire District Council. We are seeking a highly organised individual with a creative mindset and driven by a genuine enthusiasm for events, to join our compact yet dynamic team. In this role, you will be accountable to the Events, Arts, and Marketing Officer and will work closely with the Council Chair. Your responsibilities will include overseeing civic appointments and duties for the Chair and co-ordinating the annual programme of Civic events which includes the Remembrance Day Parade, Civic Reception and the Chairs Charity Dinner. The postholder will also support the organisation, administration, and delivery of key Council events such as the Festival of Leisure, the Swadlincote annual Christmas Lights Switch and the summer Music in the Park events. You will be a creative and innovative individual who is adaptable and personable and have knowledge of working in a council setting or understanding of the Chair’s role. Relevant experience in the development, project management and support of events is required. You will also need experience in the production of promotional material and marketing of events. The role is part time (22.5 hours per week) and the working pattern can be agreed with the Line Manager on appointment. The Flexible Hours Working Scheme applies to this post. Community Meals drivers are more than a delivery person, they are in some instances the only contact our clients have with another person during their day. As part of the delivery service you will complete a welfare check, for example ensuring that the person is warm during winter months, or has sufficient drinks in warmer weather, reporting any concerns to the Business Support Team. We deliver our service for 363 days of the year, which includes weekends and Bank Holidays, pausing on Christmas Day and New Years Day. We are looking for Listening Volunteers to join our team at our new site based near Liverpool Street. Listening Volunteers provide ongoing face-to-face support to visitors on regular, fortnightly 4-hour shifts during which they meet with up to 3 visitors (for up to 50 minutes each). In order to ensure continuity for our visitors we require a one-year minimum commitment from our LVs, as well as three months’ notice of intention to leave.
No experience or qualifications are necessary – we provide full training in active listening.&nbsp; We look for warmth, empathy and resilience in our volunteers and the ability to be non-judgemental and avoid giving advice.
We are primarily recruiting Listening Volunteers for our new site near Liverpool Street. We also have limited vacancies available at our other sites in Hammersmith, Pimlico and Kings Cross.

We are looking for Helping Volunteers to join our team at our new site based near Liverpool Street. Helping Volunteers are responsible for welcoming visitors onto our premises, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere (along with a cup of tea), and supporting our Listening Volunteers to help everything run smoothly.
We are looking for volunteers who have the empathy to greet distressed visitors, the willingness to undertake a variety of admin and other tasks and the resilience to support their team.&nbsp; Our HVs need to be proactive, self-starters and team players with a basic understanding of IT. We ask for a weekly commitment of four hours for a period of at least six months.
