We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Education Access Team.

This role will provide operational management of the Elective Home Education (EHE) and responsibilities in liaison with the Education Access Team Manager, and Head of Education Access and Support
 Key responsibilities:

<li>Implement robust safeguarding procedures and apply local threshold of need to cases of pupil welfare concerns, making appropriate safeguarding referrals as necessary</li>
<li>Triage and provide advisory support to EHE queries from members of the public, colleagues and key partners</li>
<li>Collate and analyse information on EHE through interactions with schools and other stakeholders, tracking provision, escalating issues of a strategic nature to the Education Access Team Manager, maintaining a central register of all children known to Reading who are in receipt of EHE</li>
<li>Conduct welfare checks and home visits with families to ensure sighting and delivery of children where there are EHE and/or safeguarding concerns for children out of school (including lone working)</li>
<li>Maintain records for children not receiving a suitable education and support timely reintegration, escalating those of concern to the Education Access Team Manager</li>
<li>Contribute to meetings with schools, families and partners regarding potential Elective Home Education</li>
<li>To visit families engaged in EHE and offer advice when requested and as set out in government guidance in policy, including statutory annual contact for each child on the register carrying out an assessment of suitability of education provided as defined by law</li>
<li>To work in partnership with schools and partner organisations (e.g. Attendance Support Team, Special Education Needs and Disabilities Team, Elevate, Health) in relation to EHE pupils</li>
<li>To contribute to the development of the Reading policy, procedures and practice through review, monitoring and self-evaluation</li>

 Experience/skills required.

<li>Educated to an A-Level standard or equivalent</li>
<li>Good GCSE or equivalent passes, especially in English and Maths</li>

Sir John Heron is a successful two-form entry resourced Primary School with a morning and afternoon Nursery, providing high quality education to an inclusive and diverse community. Our school has an out of hour’s provision that runs until 6pm on week days.&nbsp;
We are looking to appoint a professional, dedicated, hardworking and enthusiastic Site Supervisor to join us.
We have a supportive, welcoming staff, committed to providing a learning environment which is safe, secure and stimulating. As we take great pride in our school, we require a person who will also show pride, determination, forward thinking and be able to work independently, often relying on their own initiative.
This position would suit a person with premises management experience who can work to a high standard and have the ability to work unsupervised and use their own initiative to complete a range of tasks around the site. We will welcome applications from candidates with relevant field experience and a full induction will be provided. School based experience is not essential although this would be desirable.
You will be working 36 hours per week on a split shift basis. Although the time pattern is negotiable, you will need to open the school in the morning and lock up in the evening (between 6am and 6pm).&nbsp; You should be flexible and adaptable and be on-call for emergencies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

<li>Locking and unlocking of buildings and premises, including occasional weekend or out of hours work, when necessary.</li>
<li>Working with others to ensure Health &amp; Safety compliance within the site.</li>
<li>Maintaining a computerised compliance log.</li>
<li>General repairs, maintenance and improvement/renovations to the premises and grounds.</li>
<li>Ensuring the highest cleaning and hygiene standards are maintained.</li>
<li>Fire alarm and water testing.</li>
<li>Liaising with contractors and other agencies, including management of cleaning and kitchen staff.</li>
<li>Obtaining quotes for works carried out across the school and managing small projects.</li>
<li>Assisting with the receipt, distribution, collection and dispatch of goods.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Good communication and organisation skills to ensure the start and finish of tasks to support the smooth running of the school.</li>
<li>Full/clean driving license, and willing to undergo MiDAS training to drive our school minibus.</li>

<li>To work in collaboration with other members of the Virtual School, social workers, PAs, teachers in schools/colleges and other settings, and with carers, key workers to promote good attendance and academic achievement for Young People Looked After using the PEP meeting as the trigger for this.</li>
<li>To attend and, where appropriate, chair Personal Education Planning meetings and ensure the timely completion of paperwork and distribution to relevant parties.</li>
<li>To evaluate and monitor the impact and effectiveness of PEPs for the individual children you support and as an authority, particularly in respect of the appropriate use of the PPG (where applicable.</li>
<li>To support Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking children and young people (UASC) to access ESOL courses and other relevant training, as required, and lead the weekly UASC Conversation Club at Stellar Grove with support from a TA.</li>
