The Post
An exciting opportunity within Brent Customer Access has arisen in our Revenues &amp; Debt service. The successful post holder will be responsible for inspecting new and altered dwellings and hereditaments to ensure that the Council Tax and Business Rates Lists are accurately maintained, and the accurate valuation requests are raised to the Valuation Office.
The successful candidate is one who can work effectively as part of a team, be able to effectively manage the day-to-day work and actively contribute to the achieving the team’s objectives.
As an Inspector you need to be able to travel around the borough and work as a ‘lone worker’.
A full clean driving licence is desirable.
The Person
You need to possess good knowledge of the Council Tax, NNDR and Valuation regulations; being familiar with the Brent area and experience with inspecting is desirable. You need to have energy, be well organised, be positive and passionate in your approach and be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
The successful candidate will need to be able to prioritise and manage their inspection workload and ensure that team targets are achieved. Candidates need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with customers and liaise with other departments to obtain information to maintain accurate records for Council Tax and Business Rates.

This role is important to the success of that development, including streamlining and improving office processes and co-ordination of the site, day to day activity and various staff/contractors. The centre comprises of a number of staff including those managing the site itself and various projects, alongside a number of instructors. The post holder will engage with other staff from the county council, contractors, children, young people and families on a daily basis.<h4>About the role</h4>The onsite Project Officer manages the office at Hudnall Park. This is a customer facing role and is the first point of call for our visitors, customers, contractors and staff. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate initiative and good judgement, as they will sometimes need to determine how to address and resolve daily problems with minimum supervision. The role is responsible for:<ul><li>Meeting and greeting – school visits/residentials, staff, parents/carers, children &amp; young people and contractors.</li><li>Co-ordinating activity at Hudnall Park and briefing colleagues accordingly about day-to-day events, to support smooth operation of the Centre.</li><li>Invoicing, purchase orders and budget keeping.</li><li>Providing information to stakeholders and customers, managing bookings, clarifying and resolving queries and escalating more complex issues to the appropriate person.</li><li>Liaising with the area Facilities Officer to ensure that external contractors are managed accordingly.</li><li>Working closely with the onsite caretaker to ensure that day to day tasks are fulfilled and that ad hoc requirements are responded to quickly.</li><li>Updating various logs and registers, analysing information and reporting.</li><li>Responsible for oversight of projects leading to service improvements e.g. digitalisation of booking and payment systems. · Providing project support for the Hudnall Park Action plan and associated activities. · Producing supporting documents such as risk logs, health and safety logs and work plans to support the accurate documentation and monitoring of projects. · Planning and prioritising own defined daily work activities related to each particular day.</li></ul>Ensuring that site security is maintained and adhered to. It’s an exciting time to join Broxbourne Council on our latest shared service adventure with East Herts District Council alongside two small friendly Human Resources (HR) teams, with lots of promising new initiatives in the pipeline. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated Human Resources professional who will be responsible for providing generalist HR support (including casework) and advice to teams across both councils, specialising in Employee Relations.
Responsibilities include:

<li>Working with both councils to develop and improve the deployment and management of our valuable human resource teams</li>
<li>Providing effective day to day advice and support to managers and employees on terms and conditions of employment and the application of HR policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Line managing HR Business Partners and assisting with HR cases where relevant</li>

<li>Participation in a range of employee meetings, including grievance/disciplinary investigations and hearings, sickness meetings, employee relations and management meetings etc.</li>

To be successful in this role you will have previous human resources experience, ideally within a local authority or other public sector organisation. You will also need to be Level 5 CIPD qualified or have relevant experience.&nbsp; The role requires a good communicator with both verbal and written skills and the ability to converse at ease with staff and members of the public to provide advice in fluent English. You will need to have an innovative and positive approach to work with exceptional customer service and negotiation skills.&nbsp; Experience of working in a highly pressured environment will also be required.
Although both councils support hybrid working, the successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to working across both sites in person and manage their time effectively. As such you will split your time between Broxbourne’s Office at Bishops’ College, Churchgate, Cheshunt and East Herts’ Offices at Wallfields, Pegs Lane Hertford.
