About the role:

<li>Onsite, full-time during the school year (39 weeks, and no travelling between different sites)</li>
<li>Permanent contract</li>
<li>Start Date:&nbsp;January 2025</li>
<li>Salary: £36,445 - £43,959 (points 28-35 on the Abbey School Professional Pay Scale). Salary is dependent on qualification and number of years post qualification experience.</li>
<li>Salary is not pro-rata – although onsite hours are term time only, salary is split evenly across 12 months and paid the same every month.</li>
<li>You will work within our trans disciplinary team of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Behaviour Analysts</li>
<li>Small caseload – you will be responsible for a small number of classes with 6-7 pupils per class. You will work closely with the class-based staff and other onsite professionals in a pupil centred model.</li>
<li>Hands on - you will see your classes every week and&nbsp;maintain continual support of pupils in your caseload across the school year&nbsp;without pressure to discharge</li>
<li>Please note&nbsp;this role is not suitable for newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists</li>

Key responsibilities:

<li>Deliver specialised speech, language, and communication support to children and young people (aged 4-19) with complex autism, learning difficulties, and behaviours that challenge, within a school setting. &nbsp;</li>
<li>Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure every pupil's needs are understood, accurately planned for, and closely monitored.</li>
<li>Empower teaching staff with expert advice to support pupils' communication development, driving the best possible outcomes for children and young people.</li>
<li>Provide both direct and indirect therapy to individuals and groups of pupils, ensuring tailored care and support.</li>

With a total package up to £51,083 including bonuses and benefits, this is an excellent opportunity to advance your career in social care.This opportunity is available on a fixed term contract until September 2026.Occupational Therapists within Adult First Contact Service (AFCS) are responsible for:<ul><li>Screening and prioritising&nbsp; referrals that are received through the Contact Centre, working proactively to address immediate Occupational Therapy and social care needs with the aim of preventing longer term needs.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Carrying a small caseload of priority cases, consisting of residents who will benefit from short term preventative Occupational Therapy interventions. This can include addressing moving and handling, equipment and adaptation needs.</li></ul>The post holder will carry out strengths based comprehensive, specialist assessments and make recommendations to prevent, reduce and delay the need for ongoing social care. This aim is to enable people to be safe, maximise their independence and support them to achieve their desired outcomes. The post holder will make recommendations for major and minor adaptations and prescribe assistive equipment. They will risk assess and make recommendations for moving and handling needs.
