Are you passionate about shaping the future of our communities through innovative planning policy? We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Senior Planning Officer – Policy&nbsp;to join our Planning Policy team and play a key role in delivering a first-class, customer-focused planning service.
About the Role
As a Senior Planning Officer, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Local Plan and related planning policy matters, including conservation, climate change, and regeneration initiatives. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and the public to ensure our planning policies reflect the needs and aspirations of our borough.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Lead and support the preparation and monitoring of the Local Plan.</li>
<li>Draft reports, guidance, and policy statements on planning matters.</li>
<li>Represent the Council at meetings, public inquiries, and exhibitions.</li>
<li>Provide expert planning policy advice to colleagues, Members, and the public.</li>
<li>Contribute to regeneration and environmental enhancement projects.</li>
<li>Stay up to date with legislative changes and planning policy developments.</li>
</ul>
About You
You’ll bring a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement. You’ll be a skilled communicator with the ability to translate complex technical information into accessible advice. You’ll also have:

<li>A recognised degree in Town Planning and RTPI membership.</li>
<li>Post-qualification experience in planning policy, including project management.</li>
<li>Strong analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.</li>
<li>A collaborative approach and ability to work independently.</li>

Technical Support Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated talented individual to fill the role of Technical Support Officer within our dynamic Business Support Team. The Business Support Team is the engine room that supports the entire Planning Service. The team validates and registers all planning applications, processes Planning Appeals, plays a key role in the administration and monitoring of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and is responsible for leading our programme of process review, system updates as well as driving and monitoring our overall service performance.
You could be starting out in your career or have established skills in providing the support within a Planning or other local authority department. Experience of validating and registering planning applications would be an advantage, but don’t worry if you don’t have any experience as we provide a full training package.
