As our Major Projects Principal Planning Officer, you will provide appropriate advice on all major Development Management matters including the provision of appropriate pre-application advice and the effective and efficient processing of applications for planning permission and all other related consents in respect of major applications as well those considered complex, controversial and/or raising new aspects of planning policy.
We are looking for an individual with a planning or similar degree and significant Development Management experience along with outstanding communication and customer service skills, knowledge and understanding of planning legislation, case law and policy with experience of presenting to Planning Committees.
While Adur &amp; Worthing Councils largely operate joint services, for planning purposes Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council remain 2 separate planning authorities with their own Local Plans and separate Planning Committee. Working for the Councils therefore provides the unique experience of dealing with 2 individual areas with some differing planning priorities but both striving to provide high quality development while maintaining an attractive environment for our residents. Broxbourne Council is seeking a Planning Enforcement Officer to join our busy and dynamic Planning Enforcement team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a great opportunity to continue your professional development in planning enforcement.&nbsp;
The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload of enforcement related matters including temporary planning permissions and proactively monitor new developments to ensure that developments comply with planning regulations and the aims of Broxbourne Local Plan are realised. In this role you will investigate a range of cases, provide specific specialist planning advice to resolve breaches, conduct site inspections and safeguard development ensuring it is line with approved plans.&nbsp;
You should have some knowledge of Town Planning legislation with some practical experience of site inspections, including the writing of notes, taking photographs for evidence and dealing with customers.&nbsp;
About this role • &nbsp; &nbsp;To carry out site inspections on planning enforcement cases. Taking comprehensive notes and photographs and uploading them onto the Council internal management systems. • &nbsp; &nbsp;To understand the Permitted Development rights for development. • &nbsp; &nbsp;To carry out site inspections for S106 legal clause discharge and housing development monitoring and reporting back to the Planning Policy Section on-site inspection findings. • &nbsp; &nbsp;To liaise with the other officers in the Enforcement Team, reporting back on-site inspections, accompanying them on more complex site visits. • &nbsp; &nbsp;To complete customer correspondence for sites which after inspecting do not require planning permission.
