About the role
We have a rare vacancy in one of the 5 teams for a Team Manager within West Kent Children in Care Service, based at Worrall House in Kings Hill, West Malling. West Kent covers the districts of Sevenoaks, Swanley, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge &amp; Malling and Maidstone. This is a hybrid working role offering you the opportunity of a good work-home life balance.
Leading a close-knit team of 5/6 social workers, you will be a champion of social work values, delivering and improving services and outcomes for children and young people. About the role
Our residents in this service have experienced long term street homelessness and have faced significant challenges including with their mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency, and struggled to sustain engagement with support services. That's why they're here, to make a change and gain the support they need to enable greater independence and recovery.
In this role, as a Support Mentor, you will work within a 24 hour service which provided person centred support to our residents. Some key responsibilities include:

<li>Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents and participants.</li>
<li>Be a present member of the team on the night shift, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service.</li>
<li>Building trusting professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through tailored one to one sessions, group sessions, in and out of service activities, and general wellbeing check ins.</li>
<li>Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals.&nbsp;</li>

About you
We're looking for someone who shares our passion for supporting people who’ve experienced homelessness and may have complex needs. Teamwork is essential and having previous knowledge of the needs our residents may have. Each support plan is tailored to the individual, so you'll help deliver care that truly meets their needs. Working as a Children in Care Social Worker at Newham provides a unique development opportunity as the service handles the majority of court work relating to care proceedings. You will be fully supported in this by senior colleagues, an Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager in each team, Practice Development Social Workers, a comprehensive CP Chair service and our Clinical Team of experienced qualified Family Therapists. Applicants must have a valid registration with Social Work England and experience of practice within the UK.
