Job summary

The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) is the independent economic and safety regulator for Britain’s railways and monitor of performance on England’s strategic road network.

Job description

Railway Safety Directorate ensures duty-holders in the railway industry manage health and safety risks effectively and comply with their statutory duties. The Southern Region Team carries out safety inspections, incident and complaint investigations, liaison and enforcement work with duty holders. The Team interfaces with Network Rail in the Southern Region (Kent, Wessex and Sussex Routes) and Anglia Route, along with the train operating companies operating in those areas.

You will provide high-quality administrative and business support to the Southern Region Team contributing to the effective delivery of operational and corporate objectives. The role supports the smooth running of team activities through the coordination of information, management of enquiries, maintenance of records, and delivery of administrative processes.

As knowledge and experience develop, the postholder will provide proactive support to colleagues, assist with responding to queries, gathering and analysing information, monitoring actions, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team effectiveness and customer service.

Additional Information

At ORR, our hybrid working means that we currently work from our workplace location a minimum of 40% of our working week, although requirements to attend other offsite locations for official business, also count towards this level of attendance. Working arrangements are subject to continuous review.

Qualifications

A minimum of five GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths at grade A-C/ grade 9-4.
