Waverley Borough Council is seeking a Greenspaces Monitoring Officer to join our Environmental Services team based in Godalming, Surrey, on a full-time maternity cover contract. This fixed-term opportunity offers the chance to make a real impact by helping to maintain and improve the quality of our parks, play areas, cemeteries, sports pitches, and open spaces across the borough.
We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving. As a Greenspaces Monitoring Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the Council’s Grounds Maintenance and other environmental contracts to ensure that services are delivered to the highest standards.
You will carry out regular and ad-hoc inspections across a range of green spaces, investigate and resolve complaints, and work closely with contractors, residents, sports clubs, and community groups to ensure our facilities are safe, attractive, and well maintained.
You will also play a key role in collecting data, reporting on performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement. The role requires a confident and organised individual who can interpret and apply contract specifications and service level agreements, respond effectively to customer enquiries, and manage competing priorities.
With good people and technology skills, you will have extensive experience of working with contractors, and you will need to be able to produce accurate written reports and correspondence. This is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your strong communication skills and ability to identify and respond to customer needs
A full, valid driving licence is required, and you must be willing to attend site inspections as part of the role.

<h2>About the role</h2>The Youth Justice Team provides a critical service to children and young people in the city who have become involved in anti-social and offending behaviour. These are often vulnerable young people whose life chances are adversely affected by family difficulties &amp; breakdown, substance misuse, emotional/ mental health issues and exploitation.&nbsp;The Youth Justice team work in close partnership with colleagues in the Adolescent Service, such as the Adolescent Social Work team and Functional Family Therapy, as well as partners in Police, Probation, Children’s Services, Education, Health, Community Safety and the voluntary sector.&nbsp;We work closely with the Courts and criminal justice partners to ensure children are not unnecessarily criminalised and receive appropriate support to enable them to understand and participate in youth justice processes.We are looking to recruit a motivated, creative restorative justice co-ordinator who is committed to leading best practice in victim work and the delivery of restorative interventions. We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm and expertise to make a difference to victims and communities.&nbsp;Our model of practice is relationship-based and trauma -informed, aligned with evidence- based approaches to youth justice. &nbsp;As a Restorative Justice Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing restorative work in the service, as well as recruiting, training and supervising volunteers for Referral Order panels. &nbsp;You will need to have substantial experience working with children or young people in a statutory setting and be adept at assessing risk and need and responding to changing circumstances. We have an excellent new opportunity available for a Home Finding Officer to join our dedicated Children’s Services Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full time, permanent basis.
As the Home Finding Officer, you will play a pivotal role in sourcing and brokering placements for children we care for, care leavers and children with SEND, ensuring high-quality, value-for-money provision that meets individual needs. This includes a range of placement types such as residential care, independent fostering agency (IFA) placements, parent and child placements, supported accommodation, and specialist education settings for children with SEND.
This role is part of the new dedicated Home Finding and Placements team, focused solely on supporting children and young people. This new, specialist service brings sharper focus, enhanced expertise, and personalised support to every child’s journey. Previously part of a combined adults and children’s service, the creation of this standalone team marks an exciting step forward, enabling us to design a truly child-centred approach from the ground up.

Key responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Source and match placements for children we care for and care leavers, including emergency, short-term, and long-term options.</li>
<li>Identify and commission independent and non-maintained special schools for children with SEND and alternative provision.</li>
<li>Develop good professional relationships with local and regional providers to maximise local placement options.</li>
<li>Utilise the quality assurance framework to monitor placement quality, outcomes, and This will also involve on site Quality Assurance visits with Providers</li>
<li>Maintenance of comprehensive contracts register for all placements and service contracts.</li>
<li>Carry out due diligence and quality assurance on all providers prior to placement decisions.</li>
</ul>
Candidate requirements: 
<ul>
<li>Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.</li>
<li>Experience of working in commissioning or delivery of support tasks (e/g/ monitoring quality, performance or evaluating costs).</li>
<li>Experience in commissioning, placement sourcing, or contract management within children’s</li>
<li>Good negotiation and relationship building skills</li>
<li>Good communication skills with ability to negotiate.</li>
<li>Good planning and organisational skills, and ability to manage own workloads to achieve desired</li>
<li>Good problem-solving skills.</li>
