About the team

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a high-performing and dynamic Brokerage service within Adult Social Care. Our service is continually evolving to support the delivery of personalised, timely, and effective care solutions in line with our Connected Lives principles.

About the role

As an Assistant Service Finder, you will play a key role in sourcing and commissioning a wide range of social care services for adults across Hertfordshire, based on assessed needs. You will help ensure individuals can access the right support as quickly as possible, while also supporting providers to deliver services efficiently and be paid on time.

This role is a core function within a developing brokerage and commissioning service, contributing to business continuity, commissioning capacity, and improved outcomes for residents.

You will primarily work with internal Adult Social Care teams and liaise with external providers via email, telephone, and Microsoft Teams. The role involves following established operational procedures accurately and within required timescales.

Key responsibilities:

  • Source and commission social care services in line with assessed needs
  • Work closely with Adult Care Services teams (community and hospital), Finance, and Commissioning colleagues
  • Liaise with care providers and external partners to secure appropriate services
  • Maintain accurate records and follow business processes
  • Support the delivery and development of commissioning processes
  • Manage a varied workload, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines

About you

Essential:

  • Excellent IT skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel to an office base

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with people who have learning disability autism and/ or physical disability and a good understanding of what their support may look like.
  • Relevant qualification and/or experience in Social Care
  • Knowledge or experience of systems such as Acsis and/or eBrokerage

This is an entry-level opportunity where you can make a real difference to people’s lives. You will gain valuable experience working with a range of professionals, providers, and partner organisations.

You will also develop knowledge of social care assessment and referral processes, an understanding of the social care provider market and insight into commissioning, contracts, and purchasing arrangements. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, we would love to hear from you.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact: Lee.Draper@hertfordshire.gov.uk

Interview date: w/c 3rd August

How to apply

As part of your application, please upload your most recent CV. Ensure your CV is up to date with your employment history (including any employment gaps), and including any training/qualifications. We encourage you to include examples of where you have demonstrated the requirements/criteria in the advert / job profile to allow the panel to fully recognise your skills and abilities. You will have the opportunity to include a short covering paragraph within your application to give us a little more information about your skills, knowledge, and experiences.

Secondment
This role is open to secondments for eligible employees who work for HCC. If you wish to apply on a secondment basis, you must have your line manager’s approval before submitting your application. You will be asked to confirm this within your application form.
