As a Senior Public Health Specialist, you will work within a team of highly motivated public health staff, supporting the Director of Public Health to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Hackney and the City of London. You will be expected to be able to work across all domains of public health as and when required to do so and with additional training and support if necessary.
As part of our’whole system’ approach to tackling obesity, this fixed term role will lead the co-development, implementation and evaluation of a pilot programme of work to build workforce and community capacity to promote healthy weight. This will involve:
- Strengthening healthy weight competence and confidence among frontline staff and volunteers who support individuals at high risk of obesity, in various service and community settings
- improving awareness of, and access to, information about actions individuals can take to achieve and maintain a healthy weight
- Developing and implementing a plan to address and reduce weight stigma across Hackney and the City.
While based within a central team, the responsibilities of the role will be delivered through collaboration with colleagues across the two local authorities, health and voluntary sector partners, as well as directly with communities.
You will be educated to degree level and have significant public health knowledge and skills, acquired through training, experience or formal study. You will have a knowledge of the causes of ill health and inequalities, combined with a knowledge of public health principles and methodologies.
Applicants for this role will need to have a comprehensive understanding of the complex drivers of obesity and the multi-faceted response required to promote healthy weight. Expertise in community co-design/co-delivery and supporting wider services to embed health promotion in routine practice is highly desirable.

Do you have experience of delivering and supervising frontline operational services in a Street Cleansing or Waste Collection Service environment?&nbsp;
We are looking to appoint a Waste Management &amp; Street Cleansing OFFICER to join the service.&nbsp; You will be responsible for the daily schedule planning, deployment and supervision of teams to ensure that statutory obligations and service plans are delivered across the Borough.&nbsp; There will be a keen focus on the improvement of the local environmental quality and attention to detail is key when delivering Street Cleansing Services.

As our Inclusion Champion, you will work closely with the SENDCo, Head Teacher, pastoral team, and class teachers to support pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, or other vulnerabilities.
You will help remove barriers to learning, model inclusive practice, and build strong, trusting relationships with children and families. Your work will make a meaningful difference to pupils¿ wellbeing, confidence, and engagement in school life.

 Key Responsibilities:
1. Promoting Inclusive Practice - Champion the school's vision and values around nurture, inclusion, equality, and diversity. Model inclusive approaches in all aspects of school life, ensuring pupils feel safe, respected, and valued. Support staff in adapting teaching and learning to meet the needs of all pupils. 2. Supporting Pupils with Additional Needs - Work alongside the SENDCo to identify pupils requiring additional support and ensure early intervention strategies are implemented. Monitor the progress and wellbeing of pupils with SEND, EAL, annclusion Champion will ensure that inclusion is at the heart of the school¿s culture, strengthening capacity across the staff team and enabling all pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.¿Provide targeted support to pupils in nurture provision, in class or small groups, as directed. 3. Building Staff Capacity - Partner with teachers and teaching assistants to share strategies, resources, and approaches that promote inclusion. Contribute to staff CPD by modelling best practice and supporting training sessions. Encourage reflective practice and support colleagues in developing confidence when working with pupils with diverse needs. 4. Family and Community Engagement - Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported. Work collaboratively with external agencies and the Local Authority to strengthen provision. 5. Monitoring and Evaluation - Support the collection and analysis of data relating to behaviour, progress, and attainment of vulnerable groups. Contribute to reports for governors and senior leaders on the impact of inclusion strategies. Identify areas for improvement and help shape action plans to raise standards.

We are looking for a creative and forward-thinking professional with strong qualitative research skills and experience. You will have excellent communication and relationship management skills and be confident in designing and delivering insight projects that influence policy and practice. The ability to work collaboratively across teams and organisations, and to present findings in an accessible and impactful way, is essential.
You should be educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) and have formal training in qualitative research methods. Experience of mixed-methods research, community engagement, and working in a public sector context would be an advantage.
