We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team, on a permanent, full-time basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h3>About you...</h3>
A main part of your role will be focusing on the professional building surveying of the council's temporary accommodation stock. You will also oversee the day-to-day repairs, manage voids, ensure cyclical compliance and coordinate capital works and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
The Senior Building Surveyor will also be responsible for ensuring projects are effectively procured and that they meet statutory and legislative requirements, delivering value for money and adhering to our internal governance policies and procedures.&nbsp;

Our dynamic Housing Management team provides an extensive and responsive property management service to homeless clients in temporary accommodation. As part of the Welfare and Housing service, our team collaborates closely to achieve the best outcomes and deliver a comprehensive service to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will engage in varied and rewarding work every day, making a real difference in people’s lives.
<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>






You will lead the preparation of specifications and contract conditions for tendering works. This includes coordinating with our main term contractor and service contractor for repairs and specialist projects.&nbsp;
You will inspect and assess repair requests, such as damp and mould, providing technical advice on solutions. You will also conduct property inspections to determine when components need replacement and advise regarding inclusion of works within Planned Maintenance Programmes.
You will undertake inspections relating to health and safety issues, noting any deviation from regulatory or legislative requirements or construction standards.






The Senior Building Surveyor will manage and monitor contractors and consultants, addressing any issues independently when standards are not met.
A main part of the role will also be the provision of technical approval for Disabled Facility Grant applications and oversee the associated works, including progress and final inspections.

Your responsibilities will include: • Deputise for the Operations Manager: Act as the Operations Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.• Project management: Oversee and coordinate flood risk projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet objectives, timelines, and budgets.• Funding bids: Prepare and submit applications for funding to support flood risk management initiatives.• Attending Regional Flood and Coastal Committee meetings: Represent the organisation at regional meetings to discuss and influence flood and coastal risk management projects and direction.• Supporting elected Councillors: Provide expert advice and support to elected officials on flood risk issues. • Present on flood risk to different audiences: Deliver presentations on flood risk topics to a variety of stakeholders, including the public, professionals, and senior management. • Lead on capital projects for the county: Manage and direct flood risk capital projects within the county, ensuring successful delivery.• Provide support to junior members of staff on projects and workload: Mentor and assist junior staff with their projects and workload, fostering their professional development.• Bring new opportunities to the flood risk team: Identify and pursue new initiatives and opportunities to enhance the team's effectiveness and impact.• Writing and reviewing Section 19 investigations: Conduct and evaluate investigations into significant flood events, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.• Provide expert flood risk management advice to local and national consultations: Provide specialised guidance on flood risk management in response to consultations at both local and national levels.• Working with different risk management authorities: Collaborate with various agencies and organisations involved in managing flood risks to ensure cohesive and effective strategies. Key responsibilities:
