Job Description

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, LE3 8RA/to travel to Various Schools

Salary: £32,070 - £34,359 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay Award pending)

Working Hours: 5 hours per week (190 annualised Hours ) 38 weeks per year (Term time)

Contract Type: Fixed term for (2026/2027 Academic year)

About the Role

Love drumming? Want to inspire the next generation of musicians?

We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Drum Teacher to join Leicestershire Music. You'll deliver drum kit lessons in schools across the county, helping children and young people build skills, confidence and a lifelong enjoyment of music. You'll also support bands, ensembles and performances, helping us meet growing demand for drum tuition across Leicestershire.

This role is currently 5 hours per week, with the potential to grow as demand for lessons increases, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build and develop their teaching career within a supportive music service.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

Please ensure that you cover all 7 points in your application and provide clear examples and evidence of how each point has been met

  • Qualification or experience demonstrating a high level of musical understanding, awareness and proficiency in your area of specialism
  • Strong drum kit performance skills.
  • Experience of teaching, coaching or working with children and young people.
  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons for learners of different ages and abilities.
  • Knowledge of instrumental teaching and musical progression.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of how to differentiate teaching to meet the interests, needs, and learning styles of a wide range of children and young people.
