    Location: Croydon

The Croydon Council Pension Fund, part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), has a total membership of over 36,000 and over 100 scheme employers. Our aim is to provide members and employers with a professional and member-focused service providing timely and accurate information.

    About the Role

Are you an experienced LGPS administrator looking for your next challenge, or a skilled pension administrator ready to step up into a more senior role?

We have an exciting and rewarding permanent opportunity for a Senior Pension Administrator to join our supportive and knowledgeable team.

Working within a busy LGPS administration environment, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality pension service, handling a varied workload and contributing to the technical excellence of the team. This role offers an opportunity to further develop your expertise, build on your existing LGPS knowledge, and take on greater responsibility within a collaborative and supportive environment.

What we are looking for from you

We are seeking a candidate with strong LGPS administration experience and a solid understanding of pension legislation and benefit calculations. You may already be operating at a senior level, or you may be an experienced pension administrator who is ready to broaden your responsibilities and progress your career.

We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate most or all the following:

    • Experience of administering the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
    • Ability to calculate and/or quality check a range of LGPS benefits, with a willingness to develop expertise in more complex cases where required.
    • Good working knowledge of LGPS legislation and the ability to interpret and apply pension regulations accurately.
    • Experience of investigating and resolving pension administration queries, including more complex cases.
    • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate work.
    • Ability to work effectively within a busy, high-volume pension administration environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain pension matters clearly and professionally.
    • Experience using LGPS pension administration software, such as Altair or a similar system.
    • A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering a high-quality service to members, employers and stakeholders.

Please note: This is not an entry-level or trainee position. Applicants must already possess good technical knowledge and experience required to perform the full range of LGPS administration duties. Applications from candidates who do not meet most, or all the essential criteria will not be progressed.

In return you will be joining a capable, professional, supportive team, with induction, training and development opportunities. Croydon Council provide excellent benefits for staff, including the brilliant Local Government Pension Scheme, generous leave entitlement and numerous staff benefits.

Croydon Council operates a hybrid working policy. This role requires a minimum of two days per week in our Croydon office, with additional office attendance as required to meet business needs.
