Job Summary:

Ealing Council have exciting new opportunities for 4XAssistant Educational Psychologists. This role is full time 5 days per week, 35 hours per week.

The Educational Psychology Service welcomes applications from Assistant Educational Psychologists who share our commitment to celebrating diversity, challenging inequality and delivering psychologically informed practice that improves outcomes for children, young people and families.

The Assistant Educational Psychologists role:

Consistent with expectations of the SEND Reforms is to support the early identification and intervention of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) under the supervision of a qualified EP.

You will support with delivery of training and facilitating workshops in schools and settings

As an Assistant Educational Psychologist, you will have a:

  • commitment to working in partnership with children and young people, parents and carers using a person-centred approach
  • excellent relationships with mainstream settings for planned assessment, intervention and review at the SEN support stage
  • opportunities to deliver training and a range of interventions for social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), cognition and learning, including executive functioning for individuals and groups in our early years, primary and secondary schools.
  • excellent opportunities for working with health professionals, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and social workers and SEN case officers.
  • a lively, friendly, innovative and supportive team that offers quality CPD and regular peer and line manager supervision

Our ideal Assistant Educational Psychologist will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years full or part time, paid or voluntary experience working directly with teachers/educational/health professionals, individual and or groups of children and young people (CYP) with additional and complex needs.
  • A 1st class/2i Honours Degree in Psychology or recognised equivalent qualification, which provides Graduate Basis for Chartered membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • A Master’s degree qualification in Education/Inclusion/Special Educational Needs or similar desired but not essential
  • A commitment to apply for the doctorate programme in Educational Psychology after a successful first year with the EPS.
