About the role

Hammersmith & Fulham Council has declared a climate and ecological emergency and committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. Decarbonising heat is central to meeting that commitment, with heating accounting for a significant proportion of borough‑wide emissions.

The Clean heat Lead plays a key delivery and coordination role in the Council’s heat and energy decarbonisation programme, with a particular focus on heat including electrifying heat in the councils corporate assets and schools, ensuring coordination with the councils planned heat network expansions. The role supports the decarbonisation of council buildings, including identifying and applying for funding and overseeing the relevant delivery teams.

The role will support both the decarbonisation of heat in H&F building and assets and expansion of heat networks across and beyond H&F assets and housing.

The expansion, operation and future development of heat networks across the borough will be increasingly important as local authorities take on new responsibilities arising from heat network zoning and regulation.

This post bridges strategy and delivery, translating borough‑wide plans and statutory requirements into practical, on‑the‑ground project delivery, working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, developers and network operators.

Please refer to the Role Profile for more information.
