Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment
1 full‑time post (term time)
MPS/UPS + SEN point 2 + Inner London Allowance
Teachers’ Terms and Conditions

Required from September 2026 or as soon as possible.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment.

This is an extremely exciting time to join the Ealing Sensory Support (SENS) Service, as we are currently expanding our Vision Impairment (VI) team and, in turn, our service offer. As part of this development, you will be joining an innovative, collaborative and supportive VI team — a dynamic, forward‑thinking group of professionals working together within a growing multi‑disciplinary service.

We are seeking to appoint a full‑time, permanent Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment to join our Sensory Support (SENS) Service in Ealing. A job share would be considered for the right candidates.

Ealing is a diverse London Borough with a commitment to providing high‑quality support to families, schools and settings to enable them to include children and young people with a range of vision impairments.

We are passionate about enabling children with vision impairment to achieve their best educational and wellbeing outcomes. The service is part of ESCAN (Ealing Services for Children with Additional Needs), which includes health therapy services such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology and the Child Development Team, as well as Educational Psychology and the SEN Assessment Service. There is real opportunity for multi‑agency working.

We have a good relationship with our schools and early years settings. It is possible to use public transport to carry out visits within the Borough. However, as the post will frequently involve working in more than one location daily, a full clean driving licence would be an advantage. Public transport and mileage costs are paid.

If you are:

• a qualified teacher of Vision Impairment
• or an experienced teacher currently undertaking the mandatory qualification
• or a qualified teacher willing to undertake the mandatory qualification
• flexible and creative with excellent interpersonal skills
• keen to work within a team that believes in a proactive, multi‑disciplinary approach to inclusion
• committed to developing inclusive educational practices

…then we would welcome your application for this post.

Teaching & Learning Responsibility / SEN Allowance

A Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) allowance is offered to qualified teachers of Vision Impairment who take on an identified area of responsibility within the service.

Experienced qualified teachers who are willing to undertake the mandatory training will initially be appointed on a teaching salary with 1 SEN point. Following successful completion of the mandatory qualification, the post holder will then move onto SEN point 2. The mandatory training is delivered via distance learning through approved providers and is funded by Ealing Council.

For further information, please telephone Susanna Memon on 07590 626015 up to the 27th July and from the 11th August.

At Ealing Council, we are committed to ensuring every family has a decent living income and can afford a genuinely affordable home. We strive to create communities where everyone can live a long, happy, and healthy life, full of pride and identity. We aim to create an environment where every child can reach their potential and achieve their dreams.”

Ealing Council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.

We would be happy to receive applications from full‑time and part‑time teachers.

Closing date: Friday 24th August 2026

Interviews: Tuesday 1st September 2026
