The Role
We are seeking to recruit a Refuse Collector for our Waste and Recycling Team. We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to assist in the delivery of waste collection within a very high-profile service.
The work can be varied and interesting and it is essential that you can appreciate the important contribution these services have in improving our local environment and the image of the area.&nbsp; You must possess good communication skills, the ability to undertake a range of duties and be a quick learner undertaking tasks with a minimum of supervision.&nbsp; You will be required to work both as part of a team and on your own. You will work in adverse weather conditions and you will handle waste.
Although not essential it would be an added advantage if you hold a current driving licence. Full training will be given to the successful candidate. You must be physically fit and able to undertake a range of duties and heavy manual work, including the collection of refuse and recycling. A willingness to train and use a wide variety of vehicles and equipment is essential.
This post is permanent. The post is 37 hours per week, based at White Lund Depot, Morecambe and you will be required to cover shifts from 7.00 am to 4.45 pm any days from Monday to Saturday including Bank Holidays. You must be flexible, as early morning, evening and weekend work is required. On occasion you may be required to work from 6.00 am and may also be required to work until 6.00 pm.&nbsp;
The successful candidate must be able to work on Bank Holidays which are normal working days (except for 25th&nbsp;December/26th&nbsp;December and 1st January), public holidays and extra “catch-up” days as directed by the Operations Manager. Catch up days for December bank holidays will either be the Saturday immediately before the bank holiday or the Saturday after, which the post holder will be expected to work.&nbsp;

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Complaints Performance Officer to work within the Council’s Customer Services Team to ensure that the Council is dealing with complaints in line with our policy.&nbsp;
Your role will be to carry out quality assurance, submit reports to cabinet and senior leadership team around performance as well as ensuring we are compliant with the Ombudsman’s Complaint Handling Code.

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to work in the Housing Standards Team to promote good quality housing with high standards of housing management in the private rented sector. The post holder will be expected to deliver a high standard of regulation within the full remit of the housing standards team and act as a lead officer responsible for ensuring the Council’s statutory duties are fulfilled, including enforcement of the HHSRS and Landlord Licensing. They will be expected to manage a busy caseload and take decisions on prioritisation of work and determination of risk/harm. Making decisions on appropriate regulatory action is a key part of the role, including service of legal notices, issuing civil penalties, taking statements, producing reports and maintaining up to date and accurate case file/files for legal proceedings as and when required.

Supported Housing Improvement Programme (SHIP) Service Support Officer

The SHIP Co-ordinator will be responsible for leading on and delivering the Supported Housing Improvement Project (SHIP) across Lancaster and Preston over the next two years. The Co-ordinator will lead a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), including staff from housing standards, housing options, adult social care, fire and rescue service and housing benefits. The co-ordinator will have line management responsibility of the 2 x administrators and provide direction and guidance to other MDT members in relation to the project. The Co-ordinator will manage the delivery of SHIP to provide a joined-up approach to improving quality and standards within the non-commissioned supported housing sector. In particular, the short term or transitional market, where clients are provided with accommodation on a short-term basis, usually up to a maximum of two years. There is often a high turnover of clients within this market. The project will provide a range of skills and expertise from different services, that will help facilitate positive changes in the provision and management of supported housing across Lancaster and Preston.
Applicants should have experience of commissioning or management of supported housing, managing projects, producing reports and presenting to a range of audiences.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit supported housing schemes in Lancaster and Preston and travel to council offices.
As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.
This post is temporary until the end of March 2027. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday – Friday 9.00am-5.00pm. This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall.
For internal applicants, this role will be considered for a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to. When this role comes to an end, the successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service. &nbsp;

Salt Ayre Leisure Centre has the latest in fitness and training equipment, an indoor adventure play area and indoor and outdoor climbing facilities. Not to mention an immersive spinning studio and dedicated training zone.
In your role you will be responsible, as part of a team, for maintaining the smooth running of the state-of-the-art Leisure Centre. You will be dedicated in delivering an excellent customer experience for all our established and new customers. Supervising the swimming pool and flume, setting up and cleaning equipment for a wide range of sporting activities will be some of your day-to-day duties.
You will be the face of the Leisure Centre, and it is a great opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, passionate and vibrant team. You will be confident and outgoing as your duties will include organising school holiday events and children’s birthday parties. You will also be expected to work in other areas of the leisure centre after appropriate training.
You will be offered work / shifts based around the centre opening times; 6:00am to 11:00pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am-8.00pm at weekends. This post is based at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre. A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is essential for this post.&nbsp;
Full Lifeguard qualification training is available to the right person if required.
Excellent swimming ability will be required for this post. At the interview stage you will be required to carry out a swimming ability test.
