About the role

About you
We are looking for someone who wants to broaden or utilise their experience within Compliance, Audit and Safety, to support the organisation to ensure safety for all. You will have:

<li>Previous experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits</li>
<li>Previous experience in governance systems and structures which could include auditing, risk management, investigations, and report writing</li>
<li>Previous experience in managing quality standards</li>
<li>Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures</li>
<li>IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs</li>
<li>Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format</li>
<li>Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines</li>
<li>Awareness and understanding of the impact of stigma and marginalisation on people who have multiple complex needs</li>

Brent EPs work to a flexible model of service delivery that is rooted in consultation and the use of a wide range of tools and techniques to support our children, young people, schools, and parent/carers. Our aim is to serve the needs of the most vulnerable children in our borough, as well as using our skills to address issues that concern larger numbers of CYP. &nbsp;We do this by targeting key issues through project work and the delivery of high-quality training to our colleagues in Brent schools and settings. &nbsp; Working with senior EPs, our dynamic team of Assistant EPs have devised and delivered a highly regarded programme of in-service training, making full use of technology, to reach as wide an audience as possible. &nbsp;We are proud of the fact that over 100 ELSAs have now been trained and are present in 60% of Brent schools; our annual ELSA conference has become the most attended education conference in the LA. &nbsp;
Our EBSA project created a Practice Framework for schools. &nbsp;Last year, the EPS set up and now leads on a multi-agency panel that makes decisions about support for children who are unable to attend school on mental health grounds. &nbsp;There is an ongoing programme of training for EBSA and other key topics, including Precision Teaching, ADHD in the Classroom and Literacy Support. &nbsp;There is dedicated EP support to our colleagues in the Brent Virtual School.&nbsp;
We work in collaboration with colleagues in the wider Inclusion Service, where the EPS sits and has a key leadership function. &nbsp; Across the service, there is a renewed commitment to develop our anti-racist and culturally sensitive practice. &nbsp;Serving a truly diverse population is one of the most rewarding elements of being an EP in Brent; we are committed to ensuring that our team reflects this diversity.

Shift Pattern:&nbsp;37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday between 21:00 - 09:00 on a 6 week rolling rota which includes at least one day shift per week, weekends, and bank holidays.&nbsp;
About the role
Our residents in this service have experienced long term street homelessness and have faced significant challenges including with their mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency, and struggled to sustain engagement with support services. That's why they're here, to make a change and gain the support they need to enable greater independence and recovery.
In this role, as a Support Mentor, you will work within a 24 hour service which provided person centred support to our residents. Some key responsibilities include:

<li>Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents and participants.</li>
<li>Be a present member of the team on the night shift, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service.</li>
<li>Building trusting professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through tailored one to one sessions, group sessions, in and out of service activities, and general wellbeing check ins.</li>
<li>Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
About you
We're looking for someone who shares our passion for supporting people who’ve experienced homelessness and may have complex needs. Our residents are at the forefront of our service delivery, so building trusting and professional relationships is key. You’ll be adaptable, proactive, and confident using your initiative to resolve challenges, and keep the night service running smoothly. Teamwork is essential and having previous knowledge of the needs our residents may have. Each support plan is tailored to the individual, so you'll help deliver care that truly meets their needs. <li>Understanding of the needs of those who have faced homelessness and have various complex needs including mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency.</li>
<li>Ability to use IT systems to record case notes, email relevant people, and use other software required within the role.</li>

<li>Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs.</li>

Additional Learning Support
The Additional Learning Support (ALS) Department has opportunities for suitably experienced Learning Support Assistants to support a cohort of students who are studying a range of Level 1, 2, and 3 vocational programmes including English and Maths. The role will involve supporting SEN learners in and out of class on a 1:1 and small group basis. Successful candidates will also be expected to support students to raise their employability prospects and will have high aspirations for our ALS learners’ achievement and destination outcomes.&nbsp;
The successful candidates should have an active interest in education and supporting young people with Special Education Needs. The role involves supporting teachers in class to ensure that class activities and tasks are accessible to all our learners and promotes inclusivity. The ideal candidates are dynamic, driven and creative, and ambitious for all of their students to achieve and progress. You will actively assist in adding value to our student’s skillset whilst they are at UCG as well as being committed to being a proactive and solution-focused member of the ALS team. You should scaffold learning for students whilst also supporting them to develop their independence and own critical thinking.
Excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills are essential in this role, alongside a student-centered and solution-focused attitude. A commitment to working effectively as part of a team and to make positive and innovative contributions are also essential in this role. The role includes completing detailed records of work that are regularly reviewed and used to support reports and annual review documentation as well as other administrative duties.
UCG are looking for individuals who have the ability to remain calm under pressure and be patient and maintain a positive attitude towards students, with an understanding of procedures for safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults.

Environmental Crime, such as Fly Tipping and Littering, is becoming a national issue but Dartford Borough Council are dealing with this problem robustly and are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our extremely busy Environmental Crime Enforcement Team.&nbsp; We are looking for someone, ideally, with an enforcement background, capable of working on their own but who is also a strong team player who can fit into a busy multi- agency environment.
Waste, Public Realm &amp; Enforcement Services is a multi service environment and you will also be involved, on occasions, with the work of other officers who deal with enforcement, parks and open spaces, events, licencing and town centre business crime partnerships. On occasions, you may deputise for the senior environmental enforcement officer, attend and contribute at regular information and best practice meetings, with other regional borough environmental enforcement teams, the KCC intelligence team, when required. Previous experience of working in a law enforcement, security, community safety or similar role is desirable as is dealing with the public in, sometimes, difficult situations with the ability to stay calm under pressure. Relevant knowledge of environmental crime legislation would be advantageous, but more important is the ability to be confident, diplomatic and assertive. Good ICT skills are required together with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You should also enjoy analysing information and problem solving as this will be an integral part of the role.

<li>You should be capable of carrying out detailed investigations and interviews, often in partnership with the Police or Environment Agency, to tackle fly tipping and other environmental crime offences.</li>
<li>You will be required to prepare case files and attend Court to give evidence.</li>
<li>The interviewing of alleged offenders, statement taking, case file preparation/case building along with intelligence gathering, and dissemination, court attendance and giving evidence are key elements of this position.</li>
<li>You will be involved in promoting public awareness of environmental crime issues as well as other duties that may include dealing with unauthorised encampments, fly grazing, public space protection orders and offences associated with Civil Enforcement.</li>
<li>You should be conversant with relevant legislation and guidance such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.</li>
<li>You will be required to operate both on foot and in a vehicle, performing duties such as visiting sites of fly tipping and fly posting etc. to obtain and record evidence.</li>
<li>You will be required to take the appropriate enforcement actions, such as serving of a summons to court or issuing Fixed Penalty Notices for environmental crime offences.</li>
</ul>
Some evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working may be required for which a 10% allowance is paid. You should have a full, clean driving licence as you may, on occasions, be required to use your own vehicle, for which an allowance will be paid.
