St Helens Register Office is looking to appoint a part time Registration and Ceremonies Officer to join the team.
Working part time in a professional customer-facing front line service, you will assist in providing a first-class registration service for St Helens, which fully meets the needs of its customers and therefore maximum flexibility applies.
Your duties will range from registering births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, taking notice of marriage and civil partnership and conducting ceremonies at the Register Office and Approved premises.
We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, who can remain calm under pressure and has the ability to apply complex regulations in a sensitive and customer focused manner. Experience of delivering services directly to the public is essential and the successful candidate must be able to work effectively and flexibly in a busy front line office.
You will be based at St Helens Register Office but will be required to travel to marriage venues and other buildings within St Helens. Your working week will include weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. You will also be required to work on call for faith burials and Registrar General Licence marriage or civil partnerships for which an additional allowance is paid when on rota.
This post is subject to basic DBS checks.
You would need to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
As part of the interview process applicants will be required to read from a script and undertake a handwriting and spelling test.
Conditions of Service
Hours will be worked 19.25 hours per week as follows: -
· Thursday &amp; Friday 8.45 am to 4.45 pm with a one-hour lunch break.
· Wednesday 8.45 am to 2.00 pm week 1 and Wednesday 11.45 am to 5.00 pm week 2.
· Saturday’s are worked on a rota basis accruing lieu time for hours worked.
· Sundays and Bank Holidays are worked on a team rota with enhancements to pay.

Electoral Services Officer – Full Time/Part Time
Full-time (37 hours per week) until March 2026, followed by part-time (22 hours per week) thereafter.
We have an excellent opportunity available for a motivated Electoral Services Officer to join our Electoral Services team, here at Wokingham Borough Council on a permanent basis.
As an Electoral Services Officer, you will play an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations related to Elections and Electoral Registration. &nbsp;Working closely with the Electoral Services Manager, you will assist in the planning and delivery of all local and national elections, referenda, and parish or other polls.
The role also involves helping to prepare, publish, and maintain the register of electors.
In addition, you will contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at increasing voter registration, improving election turnout, and encouraging wider civic engagement and participation. Key responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>To assist in the organisation and conduct of all local and national elections, referenda and parish or other polls.</li>
<li>To assist with all office administration and answer queries via the phone, email, and face to face, some of which will be complex and require awareness of legal implications.</li>
<li>Maintaining and updating the Electoral Register, developing best practice, and contributing to continuous improvement in service delivery.</li>
<li>Assist with the organisation of all aspects of UK Parliamentary, local, parish or other elections/referendums, ensuring all statutory requirements and timetables are met.</li>
<li>Assist with the organisation and delivery of initiatives and activities to encourage electoral registration and democratic participation amongst all groups in the community.</li>
<li>Maintaining and updating the Electoral Register, developing best practice, and contributing to continuous improvement in service delivery.</li>

Candidate requirements:

Role specific:
Please note that this is a politically restricted role. 
You will be required to work outside of normal office hours as required during specified periods, particularly during the annual canvass and election time. 
You will need to take annual leave to fit around the electoral services cycle of work and acceptance that leave is restricted during election and annual canvass periods (usually March – May and October/November).
You will also be required to work full time, 37 hours per week, for six weeks during election periods.

The Role

The post holder will be directly responsible for the provision of services to a specified number of multi-academy trusts, school governing boards, and other commercial contracts, ensuring that our high standards are met in a professional and effective manner.
The post holder will:

<li>attend governing and trust board meetings, (physical and virtual as required)</li>
<li>provide advice to the governing board on governance, constitutional and procedural matters (governing boards are required to have regard to advice from the clerk in regard to exercising their functions)</li>
<li>provide effective minute-taking to the governing board and its committees and produce minutes in line with the guidance and templates issued by NPW Governor Services</li>
<li>ensure the governing board is properly constituted</li>
<li>Manage information provided by NPW Governor Services and other training providers effectively and ensure that it is used to provide the governing board with the appropriate advice and guidance</li>
</ul>
You will have:
<ul>
<li>good working knowledge of schools and academy governance and statutory compliance arrangements,</li>
