You will also carry out and be responsible for the safe and correct application of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals, write and record site specific risk assessments and assist in the execution of all aspects of individual arboricultural operations and long-term work schedules. There will also be a requirement for you to support existing team in responding to emergency works and manage the on-site working environment when necessary.

Job Description
Job purpose
To support the work of the Infrastructure team’s Data &amp; Innovation digital tools (particularly the Infrastructure Mapping Application - IMA), through carrying out spatial analysis, producing innovative, customised web mapping applications and by managing and maintaining databases.
Principal accountabilities
Assist with the delivery of digital and data support services (particularly the IMA), including creating mapping visualisations of data in support of the Unit, and responding to ad-hoc requests and enquiries as required.
Work closely with the team’s and wider organisation’s existing data and technical expertise to help, design, develop, and support the IMA on behalf of its stakeholders.
Promote and support the use of GIS across the Unit, including helping professionals from other disciplines to complete mapping tasks and assisting with the delivery of in-house GIS training when required.
Carry out spatial analysis in support of the Unit.
Working with the team’s existing data and technical expertise, and the wider organisation to explore and implement innovative uses of technology.
Continue to maintain and enhance the range of thematic datasets held in the Data &amp; Innovation digital tools (particularly the IMA) through liaison with data leads in other GLA departments and partner organisations.
Keep abreast of new developments and innovations that may impact on the GLA’s policies, strategies and data requirements, via liaison with a range of regional, national, international, professional and other bodies dealing with Geographic Information.&nbsp; Maintain an awareness of, and contribute to, other aspects of the work of the Unit.

The GLA’s Housing &amp; Land directorate is responsible for the Mayor’s plans to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities. Working closely with boroughs, housing associations, developers and other partners, we manage the Mayor’s housing investment programmes, commissioned services and land and property assets to support the supply of affordable homes, job creation and regeneration.&nbsp;&nbsp;
About the Strategy &amp; Policy team

The Strategy and Policy team is responsible for the Mayor’s housing strategy for London and for developing policy across a broad range of areas including new housing supply, specialist housing, homelessness, rough sleeping, building safety and the private rented sector. In relation to new housing, the team works closely with planning and regeneration colleagues at a strategic level in the pursuit of mayoral and government ambitions for housing delivery. It also leads on policy development and&nbsp;supports&nbsp;government engagement for major housing programmes, including the new&nbsp;10-year&nbsp;Social and Affordable Homes Programme, which is in a crucial stage of development.
About the role
You will lead the Strategy &amp; Policy team to drive forward the Mayor’s priorities for housing and ensure that Londoners have access to safe, decent and affordable homes. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for a team of 20 to deliver the Mayor’s Housing Strategy and respond to London’s housing crisis. You will work closely with the Deputy Mayor for Housing &amp; Residential Development and the wider mayoral team to provide advice on strategy and policy, and support broad engagement with stakeholders – especially government. You will also work closely with senior leaders across Housing &amp; Land, the GLA Group, local and national government and the wider housing sector to support delivery of key housing objectives and programmes through strategic advice, policy development and analysis. You will need to cultivate these relationships to support effective delivery of the Mayor’s goals.
We are looking for somebody with the ability to be a visible and proactive leader for one of the Mayor’s highest priority areas. You will need the skills personally to analyse and shape the detail of what is required, but also to lead a high-performing team and make the most of their capacity to fulfil a very broad work programme. Ideally you would have relevant subject-matter experience and expertise, and in any case you will need to demonstrate success in leading this kind of strategy and policy work in a high-profile, complex and stakeholder-focused environment. About the role

Working as a Housing Advice Team Leader, you’ll lead and support a dedicated team of Housing Advice Officers and Housing Triage and Support Officers. Together, you’ll deliver a high-quality homelessness prevention and housing advice service to individuals and families across the district often at the most critical points in their lives.

Based at our Sevenoaks office, you’ll oversee frontline housing services, supervise day-to-day casework, and ensure compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Parts VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996.
You’ll be appointed at Band E (£40,219 – £43,414) with excellent benefits, including a generous local government pension, flexible working arrangements (including hybrid working), and access to a range of wellbeing and development support.
What you will be doing:

<li>Leading and supervising the Housing Advice Team, ensuring quality advice and support for residents at risk of homelessness</li>
<li>Overseeing complex casework, ensuring legal duties are met under housing and homelessness legislation</li>
<li>Supporting officers with customer communications, statutory decisions, and urgent interventions</li>
<li>Carrying out Section 202 reviews and responding to appeals and legal challenges</li>
<li>Monitoring officer caseloads and service performance, identifying improvements and training needs</li>
<li>Working with housing providers, landlords, and support services to develop housing pathways</li>
<li>Coordinating and participating in the 24/7 out-of-hours housing advice rota (with salary supplement)</li>
<li>Keeping up to date with housing law, safeguarding responsibilities, and best practice guidance</li>
<li>Maintaining accurate and GDPR-compliant case management and service data</li>
<li>Supporting staff wellbeing, lone working arrangements, and health and safety procedures</li>

What you will bring to the role:

<li>Strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996, and relevant guidance and case law</li>
<li>At least 3 years’ experience working within homelessness services, including decision-making on statutory housing duties</li>
<li>Ability to supervise, support, and develop staff in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment</li>
<li>Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills</li>
<li>Confidence in managing complex and emotionally sensitive cases</li>
<li>A team-focused, solution-driven, and professional approach</li>
<li>Strong IT and record-keeping skills</li>
<li>A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle</li>
