RIPL is also the provider of the Leptospira acute diagnostic service and the Lyme disease specialist unit diagnostic service. We are UKAS ISO15189 accredited and hold approval to provide IBMS registration and Virology specialist portfolios.</p><p>The post holder will provide support to the laboratory and registered Biomedical Scientists. This will include but is not limited to, specimen reception support, patient data entry and support with performing a wide range of diagnostic assays, utilising both serological and molecular techniques. <p>We are currently recruiting for a Health Improvement Co-ordinator (Stop Smoking) to work within our Stop Smoking Service; this opportunity is currently being offered as a zero-hour contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team, with high-profile activity! This is a zero-hours position to cover evening and weekend clinics.</p><p>The post holder will be required to offer specialist support to smokers wanting to quit smoking through the one-to-one service currently offered to people living or working in Medway. The Health Improvement Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating each individual quit attempt, providing behavioural support, with practical advice, social support and pharmacotherapy advice. Strategically planning support sessions for each client and working to increase their motivation are essential components of supporting a successful quit attempt and so form a crucial part of the adviser role. The post holder must be able to collect, record and maintain accurate data in line with national guidance. </p><p>It is vital that the post holder is an excellent team player and is flexible to be able to cover team member’s clinics on occasions such as annual leave or sickness absence. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>UKHSA provides microbiology services through a network of regional laboratories and central reference laboratories. UKHSA commissions its diagnostic Microbiology service for the Yorkshire &amp; Humber region from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT).</p><p>The post holder will work as part of the UKHSA employed team based in the Leeds Regional Laboratory based at the Centre for Laboratory Medicine at the St James University Hospital, providing microbiology support for the laboratory based CDRN surveillance activities. The Leeds Regional Laboratory is the national laboratory for the Clostridium difficile Ribotyping Network (CDRN) in England. UKHSA is currently implementing a plan to introduce new technologies and services, such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to the Clostridium difficile services it currently provides. This role will support the Lead Scientist in the CDRN unit in delivering this plan.</p><p>The post holder will be required to support the emergency response capability of the Leeds Laboratory should this be required and also to work with colleagues to provide a laboratory liaison service to the Yorkshire &amp; Humber Health Protection teams.</p><p>The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (as described in the essential criteria).
