<h4>Job summary</h4><p>Engagement and Policy Division (EPD) is at the heart of how HSE reduces risk and protects people and places – it leads on HSE’s communications and business insight interventions and helps shape our policy and frontline inspection interventions.</p><p>The strength of EPD is our ability to bring to bear our collective capability on policy, operational strategy, insight and communications, to support HSE’s prevention mission on such important issues as promoting proportionality in health and safety management and our better regulation work.</p><p>These are operational delivery posts within a product safety team in the Technical Support and Engagement Group (TSEG), one part of EPD, responsible for providing technical, regulatory, and industries-related skills and knowledge.</p><p>The posts sit in TSEGs Operational Delivery Unit and requires the successful candidates to be able to bring experience of the regulation and investigation of product safety issues.</p><p>Our work protects the GB marketplace from unsafe and substandard work equipment and machinery, which risks the health and safety of users, undermines standards and puts businesses at a competitive disadvantage. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Defence Maritime Regulator (DMR) within the Ministry of Defence has a great opportunity for an individual to shape the way that Defence manages vessel safety. We are looking for someone with a strong maritime, defence or civil service background interested in contributing to the regulation and oversight of Defence maritime activity. We are also constantly looking at how new technologies and vessel types, such as autonomous vessels or with the involvement of artificial intelligence (Al), can be conducted safely and environmentally soundly.</p><p>As the DMR lead on Registry and associated projects, this role is a key link to the successful procurement of Defence maritime vessels and equipment. Ranging from warships and submarines through traditional acquisition routes; through fast paced technological procurements via novel routes and through involvement in the definition and categorisation of innovative technologies now and in the future. This includes the fast-moving areas of autonomous vessels which are vital strategic drivers in Defence. The Deputy Registrar will be essential to DMR continuing to support the speedy delivery of such operational capabilities.</p><p>This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.</p><h4>Job description</h4>The successful applicant will lead the Registry Team within the Regulation and Compliance Section of DMR. This team focuses on the registration of Defence shipping and activities. This post supports the Grade 7 Defence Shipping Registrar &amp; Regulation section head. The job holder reports to the Divisional Support Hub Manager and supports the provision of business specific and transactional office based activities across the regional PS Division.</p><p>The job holder works collaboratively with other team members to provide the whole range of administrative support services required. The job holder may be expected to support a number of teams/functions within the operational area and is expected to have sufficient knowledge of at least one other role to be able to offer support and cover during annual leave and sickness absence.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of divisional administrative functions to ensure efficient and effective business support services are provided to the PS Division.
