The job holder will ensure that all services are provided to a high standard and that security and control is maintained at all times. The job holder will be able to teach prisoners towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications and may be supported by external organisations such as local colleges.This job description is not for use by job holders in basic assembly/packing workshops, instead Production Instructor – Enterprises should be used. However, on an exceptional short term basis job holders can supervise prisoners in more basic workshops.This is a non-operational job in an establishment with no line management responsibilities.<strong>Responsibilities, Activities and Duties </strong>The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:<p>• May participate in the selection process of prisoners for the workshop/area of work.<br>• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in aspects such as health and safety, Control of Substance Hazardous to health (COSHH), machinery and tools usage.<br>• Provide support for prisoners where required; tailor learning and training requirements to individual needs.<br>• Set work schedules and manage targets/quality standards, maintaining delivery of contractual arrangements.<br>• Assess and evaluate skills of prisoners up to national qualification standards.<br>• Supervise and maintain discipline of prisoners within workshop/area of work, responsible for performance, motivation, discipline, appraisal and development of prisoners.<br>• Maintain regular communications via radio net in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS).<br>• Open and complete Assessment Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) forms, Violence Reduction Incident Reports (VRIR) and Security Information Reports (SIRs) when required and contribute to Incentive Earned Privileges (IEP) reports.<br>• Will conduct a metal detector scan or rub down search of prisoners attending and leaving their own workshops.<br>• Provide quality assurance against product specification.<br>• Log attendance and approve prisoner hours worked and wages including recording piece work where appropriate.<br>• Carry out fabric and tool checks of workshops and maintain security of areas, logging any tool/equipment faults. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Defra group has a unique operating model delivering corporate services centrally to the core department (Core Defra) and four of its Arms Length Bodies (ALBs) – Environment Agency, Rural Payments Agency, Natural England, and the Animal and Plant Health Agency.</p><p>The Compliance and Financial Accounting Team lead on preparation of accounts for Defra’s ALBs, the core department (Core Defra) and the Defra group Accounts Report and Accounts (ARA).</p><p>This is a critical role leading the financial accounts team which supports Core Defra. <h4>Job summary</h4>This is a Nationally based role<h4>Job description</h4><p>The Joint Extremism Unit (JEXU) is jointly run by HM Prisons and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the Home Office, Homeland Security Group (HSG) and is the strategic centre for all counter-terrorism work in HMPPS. It has oversight of delivery across the end-to-end offender management process, including probation. The unit drives closer working with strategic policy and law enforcement partners, with HMPPS retaining its responsibility for operational management decisions, and Home Office for counter-terrorism and counter-extremism policy across government.</p><p>The unit encompasses the entire policy making process, from strategy to operational delivery and consists of a mix of policy officials and operational staff across England and Wales. JEXU is currently introducing, reviewing, and developing a number of counter- terrorism policies, the design and implementation of which will require leadership, specialist knowledge and understanding of extremism and terrorism. The post holder will work within a small team dedicated to developing and delivering counter- terrorism policy within HMPPS.</p><p><strong>Summary </strong></p><p>The post holder will support the development and implementation of specific policies. This will include representing JEXU in meetings with outside organisations, stakeholders and Other Government Departments.</p><p>The post holder will focus on developing JEXU policies and reviewing and evaluating existing policy. Working closely with multiple stakeholders across government and academia is essential. Core stakeholders include Whitehall departments, Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC), police, Charity Commission, Ofcom, local authorities, and community leaders. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>Are you looking for a role that develops your legal research skills and helps deliver high quality legal services for the people of Scotland?</p><p>We are looking to recruit two Professional Support Legal Assistants (PSLAs) to join the Scottish Government Legal Directorate (SGLD) to undertake legal research and provide Knowledge Management (KM) support to solicitors.</p><p>SGLD delivers a full range of legal services to the Scottish Government and various public bodies. This includes instructing primary legislation, drafting secondary legislation, and advising Ministers and officials across a broad range of legal issues. They contribute to the delivery of timely, high-quality legal advice through research and KM activities. While PSLAs work closely with solicitors to enhance the quality and efficiency of legal services, they do not provide legal advice or draft statutory instruments.</p><p>SGLD has a complement of four PSLAs (including these two posts). Each PSLA is assigned to two Divisions, providing shared support across both.
