About you, and your responsibilities:&nbsp;
You might have experience from a Local Authority background, from a school, college, or Early Years background, you might come from a Health Service or third sector background too. Certainly, you’ll have a good knowledge and experience of the SEN system, and you will have a demonstrable understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, and you’ll be aware of changes that might be coming in the SEN system, and what that might mean for councils, schools, and most of all children and young people.&nbsp;&nbsp;
For those wanting to join our PFA team, you’ll have an understanding of what it means to Prepare for Adulthood, and a working knowledge of the concept of post-16 and post-18 provision and placements.&nbsp;&nbsp;
You’ll be good at communicating, able to share the positive and the difficult messages which come with SEN, confident in the knowledge that your managers and local leaders will support you. You’ll do this with empathy, with kindness, but also with clearness and confidence.&nbsp;&nbsp;
You’ll be well organised and able to balance competing priorities day to day, and you’ll understand why good record keeping is important, and most importantly, do it. About the role…
As the Transport Inspector your duties will include:

<li>To inspect/survey all transport contracts to ensure the safe and timely operation of services to the public</li>

<li>To provide bus punctuality statistics to the Transport Operations Manager when required</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>To monitor and inspect school bus passes and taxi usage on contracted routes to ensure that the passenger manifest reflects actual usage</li>
<li>To assist with and ensure that bus shelters, stops, poles and timetable cases are fit for purpose and display accurate information</li>
<li>To contribute to the annual route planning for home to school transport with accurate route and timing information as necessary.</li>
</ul>
The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.
The Transport inspector interviews will be held on 21 January 2026.&nbsp; Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
