It is a great chance to put your catering qualifications and skills into practice and make an impact far beyond the kitchen. </p><p>As part of the prison’s catering team, you’ll be working in a professional industrial kitchen environment, with a good salary, pension and Civil Service benefits including apprenticeship opportunities ‘earn while you learn’. Unlike traditional restaurant jobs, you won’t have to work late into the evening. </p><p>You’ll oversee the work of offenders to prepare and cook quality, nutritional meals for the entire prison. Plus, you’ll play your part in helping them turn their lives around - supporting them to learn new skills and work towards gaining qualifications to increase their chances of employment and reduce their likelihood of reoffending when they leave prison. </p><p><strong>Hours and salary</strong></p><p>You will work a 37 hour week and shift patterns are in place which include hours outside of 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, weekends and public holidays. You will receive a 20% unsocial hours payment in addition to your basic pay, subject to working these hours. </p><p>All roles can be open to part-time and job share arrangements subject to the business need/operational requirement. However, you will still be required to undertake the full range of shifts. <h4>Job summary</h4><p><strong>About the Armed Forces Commissioner (AFC)</strong></p><p>The AFC is a newly established, dedicated champion for our Regular and Reserve personnel and their families; a landmark step in demonstrating our commitment to supporting those who serve our nation. Acting as an independent champion, the AFC provides a direct route for serving personnel and their families to raise concerns about welfare issues that may impact on their service lives and ability to serve.</p><p>The Commissioner subsumes the roles and responsibilities of the Service Complaints Ombudsman for the Armed Forces (SCOAF), providing independent and impartial oversight of the Service Complaints system. They have the power to help Service personnel access the Service Complaints system, review aspects of the handling of individual Service Complaints, and report on the efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness of the system as a whole.</p><p>They also have the discretion to conduct individual and thematic investigations into specific and broader welfare issues facing Service personnel and their families. The independent reports and recommendations they publish will highlight these issues to Parliament and the wider public, holding the government and the Armed Forces to account.</p><p><strong>About the Post </strong></p><p>As the AFC Training and Development Manager you will take a strategic approach to the training and development of the AFC organisation, overseeing how teams and individuals reach full capability. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>We are recruiting for an Assistant Head, Contract Management for the first-generation outsourcing, Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) contract. Collective Training is a high profile, critical service for the Army and the contract is expected to be let early in 2026. The contract value will be around £2.5bn, over a contract duration of 15 years. ACTS will be an especially complex contract with many existing contracts and services due to transfer into it in the early years.</p><p>If you are looking for a challenging, fast paced role, where you can join right at the beginning of a new contract and play a key role in how Army receives an outstanding, value for money service, this could be the role for you!</p><p>Army Commercial is one of four Front Line Command teams, alongside Navy, Air and Cyber &amp; Specialist Operations Command, responsible for working closely with the British Army to deliver innovative solutions to Defence requirements. We play an important role in supporting Defence by contracting for and managing a diverse portfolio of requirements. These range in value and complexity from long term commitments in specialist capability areas, to low value short term support contracts. We also contract for sales contracts generating income and supporting wider Defence engagement priorities.</p><p>The Army Contract Management team sits within the Army Commercial Team and is spread over several UK locations. The team are responsible for the commercial contract management of a wide-ranging portfolio of work. This ranges from several very high-value and complex contracts, to those of medium duration, value or complexity, and to lower value, shorter duration contracts.</p><p>You will also be a member of the Army Commercial Extended Leadership Team. This post provides an excellent opportunity to build on your existing skill set across a number of commercial disciplines and to raise your profile, with the support of the GCO to enable you to grow.</p><h4>Job description</h4><p>The role of Assistant Head, Contract Management is a key position within Army Commercial and will be the commercial lead for the management of the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) contract, acting as the focal point for all contract management issues.<br></p><p>The requirement of the role is to deliver effective contract and supplier performance, while developing and sharing best practice and unlocking financial savings, benefits and / or performance improvements in the ACTS contract.<br></p><p>Key to achieving this will be the leadership, management and development of the brand new, ACTS Contract Management Team of four.<br></p><p>The role also includes working closely with the Army customer, in particular the Land Warfare Centre based in Warminster, and other stakeholders to understand their changing needs.<br></p><p>Please note that in the early years this role is planned to be responsible solely for the ACTS contract.
