Responsible To - Head of School
Salary Grade - Band D, spine point 6-7 £25,183 - £25,584 FTE (£18,211 - £18,500 Actual)
Contract - This is a part-time contract, 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only plus INSET days). Annual leave to be taken during non-term time.
This post is a fixed-term contract initially until 31st August 2026.

Starting in September 2025, the governors and school community of St Peter &amp; St Paul Catholic Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual who will promote students' development in a safe and secure environment. Your role will be to support students across the school by developing an understanding of the student's specific needs in order to help them learn as effectively as possible, whilst ensuring their safety and well-being.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>To promote students' development in a safe, secure, challenging environment.</li>
<li>To meet the physical/medical needs of the student according to a student’s individual care plan whilst encouraging independence wherever possible. Medical needs include the administration of medicines by mouth or other medical procedures provided appropriate training has been given by an appropriate person.</li>
<li>To develop an understanding of the student's specific needs in order to help them learn as effectively as possible.</li>
<li>To encourage inclusion within the classroom.</li>
<li>To display students' work to reflect their achievement.</li>
<li>To encourage good personal hygiene and assist with necessary self-help skills (feeding, toileting, dressing etc.)</li>
<li>To facilitate small group interventions as directed by the SENDCO (homework club, social skills etc.</li>

Our top tips for a painless process are as follows:

<li>Because Face-Ed is cloud based software, it is possible for you to experience a break in connection and you won't necessarily know about it straight away. We therefore strongly recommend that you prepare your main application content in a different package like MS Word/Notepad and copy and paste it into your Face-Ed application form in the relevant sections.</li>
<li>If you get a message saying "Validation Error" it isn't a software fault. It means you have entered data in a format that wasn't expected and it is causing a problem with saving. This might mean you have entered words in a box that expects numbers, for example.</li>

Overall Responsibilities
To support the day-today operation of the SEN policy, to work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction/instruction of teaching and/or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all pupils and assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques
Main Duties
Support for pupils:

<li>Be aware of and respond appropriately to individual pupil needs ensuring effective interaction Provide specific support to pupil's dependent upon their individual needs ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities</li>
<li>Support the SENDco to update and share Pupil Passports with relevant staff to communicate pupil need</li>
<li>Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils</li>
<li>Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher</li>
<li>Promote self-esteem and independence</li>
<li>Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance and direction of the teacher</li>
<li>Assist with the display of children’s work</li>
<li>Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment</li>
<li>In liaison with the teacher, utilise strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals</li>
<li>Report pupil achievements, progress and issues as appropriate in agreed format</li>
<li>Undertake pupil record keeping as requested</li>
<li>Administer tests and invigilate exams as requested</li>
