We are looking for an experienced and visionary Director of Operations to lead and inspire our frontline social work services, driving excellence and improving outcomes for children and families.
About the Role
As Director of Operations, you will provide strategic leadership and effective management of our social care services. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding children, promoting their welfare, and ensuring that our services are responsive, high-quality, and aligned with both local and national priorities.
This is a unique opportunity to join a wholly owned company commissioned by Slough Borough Council to deliver Children’s Social Care. While your primary focus will be on service delivery, you will also operate within a company framework, supported with any development you need in this area.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Lead and manage frontline social work services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.</li>
<li>Ensure efficient operation of services responding to concerns about vulnerable children.</li>
<li>Drive continuous improvement through audits, reviews, and implementation of inspection recommendations.</li>
<li>Develop strong partnerships with external agencies and stakeholders, representing Slough Children First at strategic forums.</li>
<li>Oversee budgets, ensuring value for money and effective resource allocation.</li>
<li>Champion innovation and lead major change initiatives to improve outcomes for children.</li>
<li>Provide expert advice and guidance on safeguarding and social care matters.</li>
</ul>
About You
We are seeking a dynamic leader with:

<li>Significant experience in children’s social care and safeguarding.</li>
<li>A proven track record of managing complex services and delivering positive outcomes.</li>
<li>Strong strategic thinking and the ability to lead change.</li>
<li>Excellent partnership-building skills and the confidence to represent the organisation at senior levels.</li>
<li>Knowledge of statutory frameworks and risk management principles.</li>
</ul>
