About the person

Sefton Council’s Green Sefton Service is recruiting for suitable casual staff to take care of our bird and small animal collection at Southport Botanic Gardens.

As part of the Facilities Management Team, the successful applicant(s) will assist in the day to day care of the ‘aviary’ collection, which includes exotic birds, rabbits and guinea pigs, mainly rescue animals that have been donated or gifted over a number of years.
This is a casual role, to provide holiday and sickness absence cover, so there are no set hours. Full induction and training will be given.
We are looking for applicants who clearly love working with and caring for birds and animals. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of working in a similar setting and have suitable qualifications in animal care.
An excellent communicator, you will be an enthusiastic ambassador for the Service and keen to inform visitors to the Botanic Gardens about the collection and related topics.
Applicants should be capable of undertaking a range of practical tasks such as daily cleaning and general maintenance of the facility. You will also be expected to deal with incidents and situations that may arise, such attending to sick animals and birds.

Domestic Abuse Housing Co-ordinator
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen, following a review of the Housing Departments service and response to Domestic Abuse.&nbsp;
You will be fundamental in assisting with the coordination of Wirral Councils Strategic response to the housing needs of Domestic Abuse survivors, and to support the processes surrounding the commissioning of supported housing services to people experiencing, or at risk of social exclusion.&nbsp;&nbsp;
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic person to work as part of the existing housing services team.
About the candidate:
We would like to hear from you if you understand housing issues experienced by people experiencing or at risk of social exclusion and an understanding of housing issues experienced by people fleeing domestic abuse, and the underpinning legislative framework.
You will have an NVQ level 3 in Housing/Supported Housing or related field and/or relevant extensive experience in related field in Homelessness/Supported Housing and an understanding of the requirements of The Domestic Abuse Act 2021, and specifically how they relate to housing.
You will have experience in planning your own workload and working to tight deadlines, to accurately maintain records/statements and findings along with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with colleagues and external agencies.

Experienced Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity is available for an Experienced Occupational Therapist to come and work in our community OT Service, working with people in their own environment, to maximise their independence, reduce need for care and support as appropriate, and supporting carers in their roles.
You will develop your skills, knowledge and experience, in: long term conditions management, utilising specialist equipment and major adaptations, manual handling assessment outcomes and plans, adaptative techniques, postural and functional assessments to meet needs, reduce risks and maintain functional ability, improve safety and enable or maintain their independence where possible. Working in a community role under social care, housing adaptations, and all other relevant legislation, applying relevant legislation and equipment and grant criteria, to achieve outcomes for people, supporting with daily living activities. Working collaboratively with other professionals in ASC, and the wider MDT professionals, carers, and individuals.
You will develop your leadership skills supporting students, assistant, less experienced OT staff, supporting their development learning and experience. You will be supported by experienced OT colleagues and team leaders to develop your experience and skills, and undertake monthly service CPD sessions, including external speakers and representatives, and access to external courses as relevant, and our full range of training available, accessing any leadership skills development as required.
You will receive formal support, guidance and regular monthly clinical and management supervision from team leader. We hold monthly team meetings across the service areas, bringing together all therapy staff, discussing relevant and pertinent topics, service progression and exploring developments.

Springbrook Residential Home provides disabled children aged 7 – 17 years with overnight short breaks. You will join a dynamic team of support workers in providing support and encouragement to children whilst they are enjoying a short break, promoting their independence, and supporting their independence during bedtime and morning routines. &nbsp;
 Job requirements:
As a ‘Waking Night Support Worker’ you must be flexible, motivated, and committed. You must have a passion for improving the lives of disabled children and their families. You will hold an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification. Additional training is available to ensure we are meeting the needs of all children staying at the home.

Sefton Council is seeking to recruit 2 Public Health Leads with strong technical skills and a real commitment to improving population health.
The post holders will join the Public Health Team at an exciting and formative time. They will be responsible for leading and contributing to multi-agency and partnership networks, developing strategic plans and programmes to address health issues and health inequalities and deliver against the public health outcomes framework.
We are a progressive and supportive Public Health Team and have an excellent working relationship with our wider system partners. The roles will complement a number of specialist public health roles each having a focus on a specific area.
One role will focus on weight management, offering the successful candidate a key opportunity to further develop and evolve the weight management agenda across the borough.
The other role will focus on health protection as well as the stop smoking agenda. This will require a broad knowledge of health protection with an additional focus on reducing the harms associated with smoking and the use of tobacco products.
Both post holders will also be expected be able to adapt to a range of wider public health priorities, within health improvement, health protection, wider determinants and health care public health.
Technical expertise and knowledge of working across multi-agency partnerships, leading service development and complex strategic commissioning of health improvement services is essential as well as an informed knowledge of the wider social determinants of health.
The post holders will be expected to be able to cope with multiple and changing demands, and to meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation, motivation skills and flexibility are required to understand broad organisational cultures, advise, challenge and advocate to enable effective working across partnerships as well as being able to influence without direct authority.
