Your leadership will be key in overseeing their day-to-day work, managing a substantial portfolio of contracts and budgets valued at approximately £5 million, which includes both significant capital projects and various ad-hoc works.

You’ll be a highly experienced professional with an extensive background in M&amp;E services, specifically in the installation, maintenance, and day-to-day management of relevant systems. A clear understanding of current laws, regulations, and statutory instruments related to consumer protection and Health and Safety is essential. You’ll ideally have extensive relevant work experience or HNC in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent) or be actively working towards this qualification.
We’re looking for someone with proven staff management and contract management skills, including the ability to confidently lead technical officers, external consultants, and contractors within a performance-driven culture. You’ll have a strong grasp of budget and cost awareness, coupled with the ability to monitor and control budgets effectively and utilise complex systems.
Crucially, you’ll have experience of working with residents, involving them in monitoring and shaping services, and a background in implementing quality systems. We’re looking for Senior Registered Building Inspectors to take on a pivotal role within our Planning &amp; Building Standards service. In this important position, you’ll act in a senior capacity within our Building Control team, providing a comprehensive range of professional services for a designated area both within and beyond the Borough of Haringey.
As well as plan checking and carrying out site inspections, the roll also includes mentoring and supervising the junior staff members, handling validations, and taking the lead on the determination of the more complex Building regulations applications. You will also be responsible for enforcement activities and dangerous structures inspections, both during the working day and as part of a rota for out of hours inspections.
Haringey Building Control are also responsible for safety at Sports Grounds in the Borough, and offer technical safety advise and inspections for other Licensed events in the Borough. Part of the role will also include assisting the BSR with applications on high risk buildings and ensuring that their KPIs are met. The Directorate is also responsible for regeneration (where the programme is not housing led), enterprise, growth, capital projects and design work.
<h2>About the role</h2>
The GLA Transport Team is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a vacancy left by an internal secondment. This is a part-time role of 18.5hrs and we are open to discussing how these hours are managed through the week for the suitable candidate and to meet the needs of the need. &nbsp;
Working in a busy team, you will act as a first point of contact for enquiries to the team, both internally and externally, including from senior officers and politicians, and respond promptly to requests. You must be able to cope with high volumes of emails, keep track of a large number of tasks and most importantly be able to assess and prioritise work confidently and quickly.&nbsp; You will be relied on to manage processes on behalf of the team and therefore will have outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.&nbsp; You will have experience in a fast paced office environment and thrive under pressure. If you are a GLA employee applying for an internal fixed-term position, as an internal secondment opportunity, you must ensure you satisfy the following secondment policy criteria listed below before applying&nbsp;

<li>On a permanent contract or a fixed term contract where the time left on the contract at the point at which you apply for secondment is longer than the secondment period;</li>
<li>successfully completed your probation period and are performing to the required standard for your current role; and</li>
<li>at least 18 months service with the GLA&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
If you do meet the criteria listed above, you will need to complete the&nbsp;<a href="http://intranet.london.gov.uk/node/16973" target="_blank">Approval for secondment application</a>&nbsp;form and gain line manager approval, before emailing the fully completed form to the Resourcing Assistant who is managing the vacancy.&nbsp;This form must be received by the closing date of the vacancy.&nbsp;Failure to provide this form will mean your application cannot be progressed.
If you are unable to satisfy all of the criteria, unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply for this vacancy as an internal secondment. &nbsp;For further information, please see&nbsp;<a href="http://intranet.london.gov.uk/node/17077" target="_blank">Secondment Policy and Procedure</a>.
IMPORTANT: If you are a current GLA employee on a fixed-term contract, which is due to end BEFORE the end date of this vacancy, you DO NOT NEED to complete the&nbsp;<a href="http://intranet.london.gov.uk/node/16973" target="_blank">Approval for secondment application</a>&nbsp;form as it is not a secondment.
If you are successful in securing this secondment opportunity, you will need to be released from your existing role, so please ensure that you make your line manager aware of your application.
