    About Camden

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.

    What You’ll Be Doing

We are looking for a skilled FRA Specialist Carpenter to join our Repairs Service team, carrying out essential fire safety repairs, upgrades and refurbishment works across our housing stock and other Council-owned properties. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will use your carpentry expertise to identify and resolve fire safety issues, from inspecting and upgrading fire doors to carrying out repairs and replacements that ensure compliance with current fire regulations and standards. Working in both occupied and void properties, you will play a vital role in helping to keep residents safe while delivering high-quality repairs and improvements.

We are seeking a professional who takes pride in delivering excellent workmanship and achieving a “Right First Time” approach. You will be confident diagnosing building faults, determining effective and cost-efficient solutions, and working independently while maintaining excellent communication with colleagues, residents and stakeholders. Alongside your technical skills, you will be committed to providing outstanding customer service, ensuring residents are kept informed and treated with respect throughout the delivery of works.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from responsive repairs to larger planned refurbishment programmes, while contributing to the Council’s commitment to maintaining safe, high-quality homes. If you are a qualified carpenter with experience of fire safety works, a strong understanding of current regulations and standards, and a commitment to delivering quality, safety and customer satisfaction, we would love to hear from you.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

    All About You

To find out more about what it is like to work at Camden, meet some of our People by visiting 'www.camdenjobs.co.uk/our-stories'.

You are a skilled and experienced carpenter with a strong understanding of fire safety compliance and building maintenance. You will have proven experience surveying, installing, maintaining and upgrading fire doors, with the ability to identify fire safety defects and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions. Comfortable working in occupied properties, you take pride in delivering high-quality repairs and achieving a right first time approach.

You are able to work independently, using your initiative to diagnose problems and manage your workload effectively, while also working collaboratively as part of a multi-skilled team. With a strong commitment to health and safety, excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with residents and colleagues, you are confident using technology to manage and record your work. A recognised carpentry qualification, extensive trade experience and a Fire Door qualification such as BM TRADA (or equivalent) will help you succeed in this role and make a positive impact on the safety of our residents and properties.
