It’s not just a job- it’s who you are and how you deliver it.”</p><p><strong>Your role</strong></p><p>We understand that this role will not suit everyone, but if you like a dynamic job that has different challenges each day a bailiff role may suit you.</p><p>To be a successful bailiff, you will be an excellent communicator. You need to be able to swiftly assess circumstances, adapt accordingly and be a confident leader in emotionally charged situations.</p><p>As a Bailiff you will be visiting people in their homes and businesses, you must be able to calmly explain why you are visiting and what options are available to help resolve matters. You must be able to demonstrate empathy for court users, be non-judgmental but focussed on carrying out your role whilst fully respecting the customers that you meet.</p><p>You will be able to plan your days to manage your workload but be able to cope and adapt with plans changing at short notice.</p><p>We give you the option of using your own car or, following successful completion of your probation period, a lease car, (UK driving licence required for a lease car) so a full licence entitling you to drive permanently in Great Britain is essential. Fuel allowances are paid. You will receive full PPE and safety training to give you the knowledge and confidence to conduct your bailiff duties successfully. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>The UK Hydrographic Office is a leading centre for hydrography, providing marine geospatial data to inform maritime decisions. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners to support maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.</p><p>These Year in Industry Placements sit within Operations Division and will run from Summer 2026 through to Summer 2027 (12 months). These opportunities are specifically designed for students undertaking a relevant undergraduate degree with a Year in Industry placement option at the end of the second year. This is a pre-requisite for applying.</p><p>These opportunities will enable you to gain “real-world” experience of using the skills and knowledge that you have been building (depending on your course of study). You will be directly contribute to the work that delivers products or services to our customers, whose safety at sea relies on the accuracy and timeliness of the information the UK Hydrographic Office provides.</p><p>You will have the opportunity, in whichever team you are assigned to, to work alongside and learn from subject matter experts in fields such as geospatial data management, GIS, hydrography, cartography, oceanography and navigation. Some Teams, due to the nature of their work, require team members to attend the office in Taunton daily, whilst others can support a more hybrid work pattern. </p><p>There will be introductory classroom training for these roles which will be onsite at our office in Taunton. This will be for a minimum of 2 weeks but could be up to 5 weeks depending on the team you are allocated to. After that, working in the office regularly is very much encouraged so that you can benefit from in person interactions with your team and colleagues across the wider business – ensuring you get the most out of your industry placement year. The expectation would be to attend the Taunton office 3 days out of 5. </p><p></p><h4>Job description</h4><p>The overarching purpose of the role is to support the acquisition and use of hydrographic information and subsequent processing into navigational products and services. As a Year in Industry Placement Student, you will be integral to our operational activity and contribute to meeting safety and production targets.</p><p>If successful, you will join the UKHO as a cohort and receive a tailored package of training before joining a team, where you will continue to receive on the job training in our processes and GIS systems and bespoke software, enabling you to contribute to the production and maintenance of navigational and geospatial products and services.</p><p>Following introductory training, you will be deployed into a team to work alongside colleagues of differing levels of experience, and you will be mentored on the job. GIS and other bespoke software and databases are used in all roles, so you will receive hands-on, practical experience.</p><p>Day-to-day activities may include database management, using GIS based production systems to complete rules-based editing of UKHO geo-spatial products, data sourcing, data capture and distribution and quality checking. Other tasks may include managing and maintaining records/documentation, archival research and job preparation.</p><h4>Person specification</h4><p>Year in Industry placements are an excellent way of building your technical and “workplace” skills and experience. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and influence the resettlement of children in the UK who have suffered trauma and change. This role involves managing routines, setting goals for young people, timekeeping and facilitating a learning culture in the centre. Quality Assurance Officer

<p>As the Senior Social Worker, you will be required to contribute to the delivery of a highly effective Adult Social Care service in an efficient manner. You will ensure the service is delivered using a strengths based, personalised approach and lead on agreed areas of quality assurance and audit activity – ensuring that multiple and complex sources of information (e.g. complaints, safeguarding adult reviews, audits etc.) are gathered, analysed, and used to direct quality improvement activity. You will be responsible for the professional supervision and oversee a team of social care staff ensuring improvement activity with the service is driven by but not limited to training, coaching and mentoring, peer support workshops.
