Senior Assessments &amp; Allocations Officer 
We are currently seeking 1 x Senior Assessment &amp; Allocation Officer to be responsible for the accurate assessment and fair allocation of permanent social housing/temporary accommodation. 
The successful applicants will work with their team to ensure that assessments and allocations are made in line with Council’s Allocations Scheme. You will also be expected to respond to members’ enquiries and complaints within the corporate time frame. 
In order to succeed in this role you must be: a team player, have a positive and flexible approach in your work, be committed in providing a good quality customer focused service, and enjoy problem solving, with an eye for detail. You need possess up to date knowledge of housing legislation. 
Applicants with a courteous yet firm manner when dealing with customer enquiries often under difficult circumstances, coupled with an ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise way, will be ideally suited to this role. 
You will have the ability and the enthusiasm to supervise, motivate and develop staff and will be keen to assist in the development of procedures and systems to continually improve service delivery. This will include encouraging customers to use the Council’s website as a knowledge base and the Council’s online customer portal for accessing services and related enquiries

Our Private Sector Housing team seeks to bring about improvements in the conditions and standards of management of private sector housing.
You’ll assist the team in achieving this through the delivery of housing enforcement standards to ensure private sector residential accommodation throughout the District meets statutory standards and help bring about improvements in conditions and standards of management for residents.
As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you’ll be on the frontline of this vital work working with the Senior Private Sector Housing in the enforcement of housing standards through formal action as necessary in line with Housing legislation.

We’re looking for a committed and customer focused individual to join our Private Sector Housing team. You’ll be based at our Sevenoaks offices, but often out and about across the District – working with residents in their homes, liaising with contractors, and helping to ensure housing standards are upheld.
You'll be appointed at Band C (£29,330 – £31,773), with the opportunity to progress to Band D (£34,072 - £36,830) in your second year of employment, subject to gaining sufficient experience and demonstrating the required level of competence.
What you will be doing:

<li>Assessing housing conditions, identifying hazards, and specifying works to improve standards.</li>

Our Benefits and Homeless Prevention Service has responsibility for all areas of homelessness; from rough sleeping to housing allocations as well as the assessment of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and the Here to Help Service. We are currently recruiting for an additional Strategic Lead to join a team of 7, specifically to manage our Housing Supply area. The Housing Supply area is responsible for the procurement and contract management of temporary accommodation providers, as well as sourcing privately rented homes for homeless households.
A large part of this role is negotiation, contract management and establishing and maintaining good relationships with landlords. You will be the face of the Service to private rented sector landlords nationwide and you will lead on the development to source new properties, both in and out the borough. You will have good commercial acumen, and be financially astute exercising effective control over budgets, quality and performance.
The Council regularly tenders for new providers under a Dynamic Purchasing System and this role is responsible for leading on the evaluation and scoring of new tenders and bringing them on to the framework. Part of the role is managing a team who are responsible for visiting and inspecting properties.
With the introduction of the Renters Reform Act this year, you will also lead on implementing changes to ensure compliance and closer working with Private Sector Housing colleagues on enforcement, inspections, licensing and tenancy sustainment for tenants. We are looking for those with significant knowledge and experience managing within a housing supply environment.
The new manager will possess strong negotiating skills and knowledge of relevant legislation which must include a working understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. You will need to be confident and passionate about outstanding customer service and making sure delivery standards are achieved providing critical support for local people.
You will possess good political awareness skills and be articulate, organised and resilient. The ability to multi-task and be a strategic thinker is imperative. Strong contract management experience is essential encompassing a strong and professional attitude delivering creative and innovative solutions

Homeless Prevention Assistant

This level attracts a salary that is mid-point of the range. You will have related experience and be able to demonstrate applied and developed knowledge, experience and skills to be effective in this role. You will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. The Council's current ambition is to increase our own supply of Temporary Accommodation. 
It is an exciting time to be joining the housing service. This role has been created to assist and ensure those who are staying in TA are supported whilst there. Given this, we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who wants to get the very best of outcomes for residents of the Borough.
To support this ambition, we have an exciting new opportunity to join our Housing Solutions service in a part time permanent role. The role will be three days a week and based in our new accommodation in Tonbridge.
You will work with and support both the Housing and Benefits teams as well as households directly to minimise any stay within temporary accommodation.&nbsp; There will also be a focus on helping to prevent any arrears occurring because of the stay within the temporary accommodation.
Whilst you will be primarily based in Tonbridge, there may be times when you will be required to visit other temporary accommodation in other areas. The role will be focused on working with households who have been placed in temporary accommodation to check on occupancy and welfare.
In addition, you will recognise, report and monitor situations and/or changes in circumstances within temporary accommodation placements which may give cause for additional support, warnings, impact on housing duties e.g. anti-social behaviour.
You will have experience of working in a similar role with a local authority, Registered Social Landlord, homeless charity or similar.
Above all you will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, possess excellent communication skills and have the enthusiasm to help others overcome their problems.
